Julia Lambert has been making her way around the music scene for quite some time now. From being in a band to now soloing it, she has been killing it so far and we can't wait to see what comes next!
Amanda Gabrielle: What made you want to become a musician?
Julia Lambert: The feeling of making art and performing it in front of other people is so fulfilling and the best adrenaline rush in the world. It’s an addictive and once I got a taste of it I never looked back.
How would you define yourself in the music community?
I would describe myself in the music community as hardworking and authentically me with everything I do. My goal is to make music that means something and touches as many souls as humanly possible.
What are some obstacles you have faced thus far in your musical career?
One of the hardest things I've had to deal with so far in my musical career would have to be when my band of 3 years broke up a few years ago. I was only 13 or 14 when the band that started and I was so utterly dedicated do it. So when it broke up, I had no idea what to do or even where to look to rebuild something as a solo artist. Fortunately found the most amazing people to surround myself with that nurture art and actually truly care about it and about my vision. That's been my current struggle, being a young woman in music and trying to be taken seriously while doing it. I’m thankful I have a lot of strong women in my life and a lot of strong women in music that I can look up to and take notes from.
What would be your dream lineup to play?
My dream lineup play would have Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, all the way to The Killers, Twenty One Pilots, Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Greta Van Fleet, Halsey, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish and Harry Styles. Pretty much what my Spotify playlists consist of currently!
Where in the world would you love to tour?
First and foremost, I would love to do a cross-country tour of the US. Don't get me wrong, you won't catch me complaining about going overseas to do some European shows, but I'd really love to at least see the West Coast first before any of that.
If you could learn to play an instrument in a day, which one would it be?
I would love to be able to learn how to play the drums in a day.
What is your biggest achievement in your musical career thus far?
My biggest achievement in my career so far would have to be when I packed out a local club for the release party for the EP I released back in 2017. There was so much energy in the room that night and I think it might have been the most electrifying shows I have ever done. Seeing that many people in one room there to support me and the music that I made was so rewarding.
Any memorable moments during a performance you can think of right now?
Just recently, we had a show where we were on the last song and we usually just jam out and let my guitarist solo and have a bit of fun while I say my goodbyes to the crowd, and we got so into it that no one knew when to end the song. So, the end of the song just kind of came to an end with a jumbled one last downbeat and some laughs amongst ourselves on stage. It was still awesome and we still had the energy of the crowd keeping us going. So, even when we make some mistakes like that, they're good mistakes and definitely memorable.
If you can have dinner with any music artists dead or alive, who would it be?
I would love to have dinner with Jeff Buckley, Miley Cyrus, Jon Bellion, Stevie Nicks, and Twenty One Pilots. They all have had such an impact my music and how I think about music and synthesize it all in my head. Not only music but the industry itself. It would definitely be a truly inspiring couple of hours.
If you can describe your music in one word using a food, what would it be and why?
I would describe my music in one word using a food as being a taco. I say that because there are so many different things you can put in a taco. I feel that's what I do with my music. I'm always striving to change things up and add different things that I haven't before to make sure that it always stays fresh. I feel like people can find that in my music where there is something for everyone.
