With over 15 years of live performance and studio experience, Willem Jochems has established himself as a versatile drummer and music producer. Born in Geneva, Switzerland where he was shaped by a rich multicultural background, Jochems has built a global career that transcends genre boundaries, conventional expectations and geographic borders. His work across jazz fusion, R&B, pop, funk, and metal reflects both technical skill and adaptability.
Jochems began playing drums at three and performed with his father’s band by age seven. This early start laid the groundwork for a long-term commitment to his craft.
Global Recognition and Milestones
Jochems has brought personal experience into his musical performances He has performed at venues including Théâtre du Léman (Geneva) and Caveau des Oubliettes (Paris), illustrating his experience in international live settings. He has shared stages with artists such as Marwan Boulaid, Romain Labaye, and Cosmic Rain. His work often reflects a personal approach to musical storytelling.
He received the “World Tour Scholarship”, which allowed him to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he honed his craft under top-tier musicians. He was awarded the “Rose Family Scholarship” during his studies at Berklee.
Upon his graduation, Willem moved to Los Angeles, quickly establishing himself as a sought-after drummer and producer He has performed and recorded with artists including Vice Ganda, Warren Pettey, Tim Miller, David Fiuczynski and Emma Gimeno across live venues and festivals. His ability to seamlessly adapt to diverse performance settings and cultural contexts reflects not only his technical expertise but also his deep understanding of global musical traditions. In 2024, he was named a “Yamaha Young Performing Artist”(YYPA).
