R&B/Soul princess Jojo has done it again. Yes, she has officially got fans begging for her big screen return. It has officially been six years since the songstress had her debut in a feature film. Her fans were even more angered that her earlier films did not garner her awards for her acting skills, being a representation of the Hip-Hop community and an Urban Pop resurrector, along with fellow soul singer Paula De'Anda, and being held personally responsible for caring on late beloved R&B Princess Aaliyah's legacy, Jojo really has her work cut out for her, so it makes perfect sense why fans are so distraught. Jojo brought the Urban Hip-Hop community to the love of wholesome family movies, to crazy drunk biopics, to teeny bubbly movies. Jojo has yet to see the movie role we want her in.
To catch up with the artist, she has been writing music for the past year and half, and has been teasing us with music snippets and her soulful vocals. Just this year, the woman of the hour released a song in collaboration with singer PJ Morton that was titled, "Say So." It was mix of R&B and Jazz music, that managed to chart the Billboard Top R&B Songs, at exactly #10. Fans even called out Jojo for her window video obsession. The two would go on later to perform at the Essence Fest. Jojo has yet to confirm if she will perform at the 2020 Grammy Awards Show.
Jojo actually attended to teach Grammy Award-winning camps, to share words of encouragement to young aspiring singers. The students even predicted she win for next album at the 2021 Grammy Awards, which hints that her album is due before the date and we can guess that we will be seeing another successful hit within the months to follow.
Jojo will be clearing the way for many new artists to reach their full potential, and thankfully they will make sure her name goes down in the Hall of Fame!
2019 has been treating Jojo well, as she is beginning to gain back her wide fan-base she had in her earlier years. Jojo has been putting on benefit concerts and festival performances, that allow her to get close and personal with her fans.
Jojo has graciously blessed us with a single and video cut of "Joanna," a ballad that brings her back to her R&B roots. Within the song, she takes the time to discuss (well actually clear up) all the curiosity we have had about why her acting career disappeared, why she hasn't had public famous relationships in a while, and importantly, why she peaked. The video goes more into depth on what exactly is going on with "Joanna." Jojo has already confirmed another single with Chika, titled "Sabotage," which is set to hit air waves soon. Jojo plans on releasing her new studio album, and perhaps we might see her back where she belongs.
Importantly, fans have repeatedly asked for her next Hip-Hop collaboration to be the Queen of Hip-Hop herself, Lil' Kim, and others have even asked for Hip-Pop Queen Lil' Mama—Both legendary rappers have yet to confirm the possibility, but fans can still dream. The most common request for was Jojo to give us the duet with Paula De'Anda. Paula even confirmed on a Instagram live feed that she would be more than willing to collaborate with her, and the two have been friends since their 2007 joint tour with Sony BMG. Look out, Paula—Something tells me that your friend from way-back-when will definitely take notice to these fan requests, and we will see a top-charting hit and music video before the year ends.
