U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E.: Jackie Spade’s Bold Evolution From Rapper to Emotional Storyteller
Love, Loss, and Rebirth—Jackie Spade Unveils His Most Personal Project Yet Through Music and Film
In an era where music often feels predictable, few artists dare to redefine themselves and challenge what fans expect. Jackie Spade is one of those rare, transformative artists. Known for his bold, unrelenting approach to hip-hop, he’s now taking a massive leap in his career, ushering in a new era with his groundbreaking project U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. (Undeniably Gonna Love You Regardless Of Some Experiences).
U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. is a raw, vulnerable exploration of love, loss, and personal growth written, performed, and directed through Jackie’s own experiences. With a fusion of soul and pop, Jackie’s music tells a story we all can relate to: the highs, lows, and inevitable heartbreaks of love.
Through this project, Jackie doesn’t just tell a story; he takes us on an emotional journey through his own romantic past. Each track on U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. dives deep into the stages of a relationship from the magnetic attraction of meeting someone new, to the passion that follows, to the struggle of loving someone when it’s no longer easy. And then, of course, the difficult, but necessary, part: letting go. It’s an album that brings healing through its honesty, offering an intimate window into Jackie’s soul.

U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. isn’t just about the music it’s a complete experience. To further immerse his fans, Jackie has also created a short film that encapsulates the emotional depth of the album. Co-starring Tea, the film expands on the themes of the album, offering a visual narrative of love’s complex journey. With every frame, the film captures the beauty and pain of romantic relationships, making it impossible to ignore the power of connection that flows through both mediums.
For Jackie, U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. marks a defining moment a rebirth, of sorts. For years, he’s been known for his fierce energy and high-octane rap anthems like "Stay Spaded" and "Axel Foley." Now, with this project, Jackie is evolving into an artist who’s unafraid to show vulnerability. Gone are the days of simply riding beats; instead, he’s singing, reflecting, and embracing the parts of himself that are often hidden in plain sight.

“Releasing U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. felt like a rebirth,” Jackie says. “Up until now, I was known as a rapper, and a lot of people wanted me to stay in that box. But I’m a rebel. I wanted to show the world my full range who I am beyond the beats, and who I am as a human. This project is the most personal thing I’ve ever created, and I want to share that with my fans.”
The album is a showcase of Jackie’s ability to blend genres and push boundaries. His rap roots are still present, but they’re now intertwined with pop melodies and soulful lyrics that draw listeners in from the very first note. Jackie’s transition from rap to pop is bold, but it’s also beautifully authentic, creating a sound that feels like an evolution of who he is as an artist and as a person.
And the journey doesn’t stop there. Jackie will bring U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. to life in a residency at GROW, a creative space in his hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina. From January 14 to February 10, 2025, Jackie will be one of nine artists showcasing their work and engaging with the public in a space designed for connection and creation. With live performances, installations, and opportunities for fans to engage directly with the art, the residency promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Jackie’s story is more than just an artist’s tale it’s a story of transformation, reinvention, and the pursuit of authenticity. U.G.L.Y. R.O.S.E. isn’t just an album or a film. It’s a journey that Jackie is inviting the world to take with him. This project represents the highs and lows of love, and the beauty that comes when you’re brave enough to be vulnerable.
It’s time to take the journey with Jackie Spade.
