Tunes to Get Grooving To (Part 23)

Hi all!

Welcome back to Tunes to Get Grooving To. As the world is still on lockdown, it’s only fair that I take your mind off things by giving you five new amazing tunes to listen to this week! Hopefully you’ll love the music I introduce you to and it’ll make your week a lot better! Now, onto the tunes that’ll get you grooving…

1. “Wake Up, Sunshine” – All Time Low

All Time Low was formed back in 2003, so it is no surprise that seventeen years later the band is still making amazing tunes. The band dipped in 2017, when they decided to explore another music genre, but they are now back and better than ever putting out the music they’re well known for. Fans have not been disappointed.

“Wake Up, Sunshine” is one of All Time Low’s one singles that is featured on their latest album with the same name. It is a mix of pop and rock and it’s extremely catchy. It’s upbeat and has a super positive vibe, which is exactly what is needed for this challenging time. It also reminds me of a perfect montage song for an edgy teen movie, it just has those perfect soundtrack feels.

2. “2016” – Sam Hunt

Sam Hunt has been described as a generational shift between traditional country music and country-pop while adding hints of R&B to his music. Although he did not plan on making singing a living, after his career in football was cut short, he decided to move to Nashville and pursue music. I definitely think that was the right choice, as he has over 7,000,000 listeners a month on Spotify alone.

“2016” is one of Sam Hunt’s new singles that features on his newly released album “SOUTHSIDE”. It’s a lyrically beautiful tune, with soft lyrics and the strong melody of country music. It’s a gorgeous love song, with a sad undertone of heartbreak. I get goosebumps from listening to this song, and I cannot fault this song, or Hunt’s album at all. 10/10 recommend.

3. “Wrong Side Of The Tracks” – Mystery Jets

Mystery Jets are an English indie group that blends a whole lot of genres together to form their kaleidoscopic pop/rock indie tunes. The band have been going since 2006, and so they have continued to grow their fanbase and discover their sound until it is damn near perfect.

Despite being released back in 2019, “Wrong Side Of The Tracks” features on the Mystery Jets’s new album “A Billion Heartbeats”. It is a perfect chill tune that holds a such a positive vibe that it almost feels like a motivational track. The backing music as well as the lyrics instantly makes me dance. I’m so surprised that I haven’t discovered the Mystery Jets before now, because I’m now seriously in love with this tune, and the rest of their new album.

4. “Strong Womxn” – Poppy Ajudha

Poppy Ajudha started creating music back in 2015 and in the last five years she has become unstoppable. She creates bold and beautiful tunes that cannot be avoided. You simply need to listen to them. She loves for her music to challenge societal normalities and that is why I love her so much.

“Strong Womxn” is an upbeat hip-pop tune that is all about woman empowerment. Talking about womanhood and the ways in which women create themselves, this song focuses on how women are perceived in this world. It is a catchy tune that will make you feel super badass. Love this tune from her, this is one to look out for!

5. “Take Yourself Home” – Troye Sivan

Troye Sivan used to be a YouTuber back in the day. Since then, he has turned his creative genius into a music career since 2014. He has become hugely popular in the pop industry and has even featured in songs with Lauv and Ariana Grande. He keeps growing as an artist and it’s great to see where he’ll go next.

If you like chill music with beautiful vocals, then “Take Yourself Home” is the perfect tune for you. It will make you groove in relaxing, sway-your-body way. It is captivating and I cannot help but listen to this on repeat. Troye Sivan has the power to create such powerful music in the most simplistic way.
