TheTonyTyme—Tyme For The Girls

What’s your name, artist name and where are you from?

Anthony Malcolm, TheTonyTyme or Tyme and I’m from Hartford CT. I was born April 13th and my mom and dad gave me the name Anthony Marcel Malcolm, Naturally everyone called me Tony and in my sophomore year of high school I decided to add the Tyme. That’s how TheTonyTyme or Tyme was came about. I’m grew up Hartford CT also known as the Heartbeat.

What makes you different as a person and as an artist?

What makes me different as a person is my ability to never give up and really being comfortable with my self all the Tyme. I grew up with my mom and no matter what was thrown her way she always kept moving forward. She worked really hard to provide what she could for my sisters and I. I kind of just added that essence to my self and applied it in everything I do. I may not get it the first time around but I keep going until I get it. As an artist I find that my ability to be okay with constructive criticism and my willingness to grow set me apart from so many people. I always want to be better and expect more from myself. I wasn’t the best singer and some people told me to stop signing I just took that as “You need to get better at it” I think I get that from my Jamaican heritage which is bold and taught me to have an edgy style approach to music. My Jamaican culture is all about expression especially in music so that’s what I do. My essence is “joy” I enjoy laughing and having a good time and you get that from my music and my presence. As a kid my moms never let me share my emotions or opinions I don’t think I ever heard my mom say “I love you” so I bottled all my emotions up. If you look into my eyes long enough you’ll see them and if you listen to my voice when I sing you’ll hear them.

What do you want to accomplish in life?

In life I want to be able to impact the world and break systematic oppression. I find that we as people value things that really don’t mean anything I really just want to be the symbol for HOPE and unconditional love. I want to take my family out of poverty forever. I want to make people feel good, laugh and enjoy themselves. I want to open my own community center and teach the youth life skills to help them even if it’s just a little.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In the next 5 years I see my self working like I am now, trying to be the best at my craft and at what I do. I really believe that my hard work and sleepless nights and homeless nights will pay off. Not just for me but for my family I hope to be able to bring my daughter and son to school every morning. They are my reason why I go 10000x harder. I’m the super hero.

What do you bring to the music world?

In the next 5 years I see my self working like I am now, trying to be the best at my craft and at what I do. I really believe that my hard work and sleepless nights all my trials and tribulations will pay off. Not just for me but for my family I hope to be able to bring my daughter and son to school every morning. They are my reason why I go 10000x harder. I’m the super hero. I also want to have an impact on the youth like traveling and talking to kids. I feel like the youth need guidance they need solid role models to look up too.

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

I want to leave behind my never give up attitude and my optimistic view in life. Always chase your dreams always strive to keep moving forward, and don’t really watch what other people are doing in life just move at your own speed. Also Tyme is for the girls I really believe as men we have to start building our women up. Women are Queens and should be treated as such. They are truly incredibly made and deserve to be empowered.
