The Soundtrack of My Year

I Just Have To Say

The Song, Greetings Gentleman by Lisa Lachapelle

This writing is for the Writer's Challenge to list a soundtrack for your life over the last year.

The song in the heading certainly sums up the year for me. The plus is that it is my own song, engineered by little ol me with my original lyrics as published in one of my 5 poetry books. That may be the only highlight to the worst year ever. I wish I could find some happiness to speak of but the year is not over yet. Do I tread carefully? Not at all. I plunge ahead as always. One year will not break a person but truth be told, this one just might.

It's been like trying to cling to the lifeboat while the sink is shipping, civil servants are throwing apples at you and the nearest hands extended were sharks.

I had a small puppy home-based business (rare small purebreds), for 8 years (recommended across Canada), that got sabotaged and after I invested all my savings in a piece of land to bring my babies to where life would be better (a two-year plan), the main water pipe in the ceiling bursts and floods the entire house. In the midst of the last stage of cleaning while juggling pups, doing life coaching online to make a living, navigating hacks and computer problems, cleaning, and getting rid of furniture, debris, carpets by hand....alone, the phone crashes and breaking all their own rules there's the government at the door and my worst nightmares realized, take all my precious, adored, beloved babies (I may be the only person in North America to have a full line of shorthaired of the Havanese breed.) It's been months, I'm still in shock and still fighting for them.

At first, told I would get them all back just not to the house as it was, two weeks later they gave me a boarding bill for 23,000 and told me I had two weeks to pay it or be forced to forfeit them (value of 150 - 200,000). Believe me, it's not about their monetary worth, it's the point. None of this the government office painted grey, can actually legally do but they did. Because of a few swift moves, my dogs and I separated and traumatized, my family not speaking to me now as if it was my fault Niagara Falls poured into the house, my entire move plans and my semi-retirement business plans destroyed. All of which literally leaves me not only penniless but with no opportunities and possibly on welfare for the rest of my life which doesn't pay rent either, over-educated and all. So, I've been crying for months and in total despair.

So, I put my poems into music and if it wasn't for working 12 hours a day on it I am sure I too would crumble. I now have to fight harder as after numerous emails, calls to lawyers and three "tribunal," meetings to apply to get my dogs back - the government body enacted an extreme stroke of cruelty and said they handed my dogs to rescuers (illegal as hell). All this while rumours of stolen money abound...

Little lives at stake keep my tongue firmly in place, teeth bared. What I will say is...who has the audacity to make plans and then hand a fortune to sycophants I don't know. Let me piece this and that together as if life were a sculpture breaking away in my hands and by the time I figure it out there are only crumbles remaining. Then toss his glass, stomps their feet and months later check in to see how things are going...surprise, surprise, no answer.

Onward and forward then now with a 1.1 Million dollar lawsuit with the aim of getting ALL my fur babies back.
