Music Artist Spotlight

By Tammy ReesePublished 7 months ago Updated 7 months ago 4 min read

From Northern California to television screens and international airwaves, Tootsie The Rapper is making waves and doing it with undeniable purpose. Known for her bossy bars, bold authenticity, and healing energy, Tootsie is more than a music artist, she’s a force. With tracks that inspire growth and celebrate realness, her work resonates like a journal set to a beat. Her latest EP Twin Flames, a dynamic collaboration with lyricist Jon Connor, is a testament to her evolution and chemistry in the booth. Tootsie isn’t just carving a lane, she’s paving a whole new road for women in the music industry.

Congratulations on such a successful career so far! There’s power in using your pen, and you use it very well. In a world full of noise, how do you stay tuned in to your frequency and protect your purpose as an artist?

Tootsie: Thank you so much! I truly appreciate that. I genuinely have a love for writing. I stay tuned in to my frequency and protect my purpose as an artist by setting clear intentions, staying rooted in prayer, and leaning on perseverance. Being surrounded by my loved ones helps keep me grounded — and above all, I keep an attitude of gratitude. So as I navigate my journey, I just hope I can be an inspiration to others — a light, a breath of fresh air.

Your track “Be Quiet” was featured on CW’s All American, and “1 & Only” was spotlighted on Impact Atlanta seasons 1 and 2. That’s a major accomplishment! In addition to these milestones, when you look back on your career, which moment or project makes you say, “Yeah, I really did that” — and why?

Tootsie: When I got my first placement on All American, I had one of those “yeah, I really did that” moments. The year before, I had made a vision board, and at the bottom, I wrote “TV Placements” — underneath it was All American. So when my team told me Be Quiet got placed, I felt this warm wave of appreciation for my consistency and faith.

That moment was like a trophy. It turned on a switch in me — a reminder that my consistency comes with rewards. It showed me that setting intentions really does unlock unlimited possibilities.

What can you tell us about some of your latest projects and collaborations?

Tootsie: I recently collaborated on an EP titled Twin Flames with rapper Jon Connor. I loved creating this project because it was all about authenticity and vibes. We spent two to three days in the studio just feeding off each other’s energy. I live for those sessions — pure creativity with no pressure, just real energy.

The EP features seven tracks and it delivers a powerful, impactful listen. I also released a project called Virgoing, in collaboration with Gabriel Pearson — also known as Mixed by Gabe — who’s the producer and engineer behind it. He also mixed and mastered my album Changes, which is a project I’m really proud of.

What else do you have in the works? Any exclusive news you can share with us?

Tootsie: Yes! I have a track called “Its Whatever” ft. Jon Connor. The track is releasing on July 25, 2025. I’m also finishing up two new projects with some really amazing producers. I’m excited about what’s next — it’s going to be a powerful chapter.

What lyric from any of your songs would be a great quote for someone to live by — and why?

Tootsie: From my song Ambition off my first album In My Zone, I said:

“Make peace with your past so it won’t disturb your future. Gotta stay humble and always keep it moving. Many imperfections, but I’m working on improvement.”

To me, that lyric is about growth and healing. Letting go of trauma, grudges, and regret so they don’t hold you back. You can’t elevate if you’re stuck in the past. This verse is me staying grounded, staying humble, and being committed to growth. It reflects resilience, consistency, and self-awareness.

It’s okay to be flawed — as long as you’re working on bettering yourself. Life can be heavy, but recognizing it as a gift and moving with gratitude is the key to peace. What matters is learning, growing, and showing up better.

Outside of being an accomplished music artist, what is a super fun fact about yourself that many people are not aware of?

Tootsie: I’m a mother of two! People usually think I’m in my 20s, but my oldest is actually a teenager. [laughs] and I have a 1st grader !

What would you like to say to your day-one supporters and new fans that come across your work?

Tootsie: To my day-one supporters — thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your belief in me means everything, and my heart is full of gratitude.

To my new fans — thank you for pressing play. I hope my music uplifts you, encourages you, and walks with you on your journey through life.

Anything else you would like to vocalize to our readers at this time? What advice would you have for anyone who aspires to enter the music industry?

Tootsie: My advice? Protect your peace and your purpose. Stay consistent. Don’t let opinions or outside noise steer you away from your inner voice. Move with intention and lead with love.

This industry will challenge you just as life does ,but if you stay authentic, focused, and grounded in who you are, you’ll always find your way. Trust the process.
