Let me first start off by saying I listen to music with my soul. As an artist myself I can pick apart the beauty within the lyrics and can easily find a way for a song to be relatable in my life. I not only listen to music to bring joy into my life I also listen to see what I can hear that can relate to my life because I wanna be able to express what I cannot bring to words.
Love songs are cheesy I know, but when I'm sad and alone, they cheer me up.
Tough Ones- Cooper Alan
This song is me and my fiance’s song. Our story is unique but the significant part of this song was it came up when we first really started to talk about our feelings. Then the artist released the song on my birthday. It had to be a sign. Now anytime I’m missing him or I want to feel that love. I play this song. And this will be our first dance song.
A Thousand Years- Christina Perri
This song has always been close to my heart as I was a die hard Twilight fan. But now as twilight plays very little in my life, the song still fills me with my hopeless romantic feels. Might be my aisle song. I don’t know yet.
Turning Page- Sleeping At Last
Speaking of Twilight, another song that the movies brought to me. As I said before I am a hopeless romantic and see the beauty in things most people just brush off. This song was played on their honeymoon and the lyrics are very relatable.
The Good Ones- Gabby Barett
I originally heard this song at a different point in my life and never knew why it never seemed relatable. Well now I relate so much to this song. Not only the song but the artist as well. Gabby Berret started on American Idol, though she didn’t go on to the final two she became a star with her personality and her groove. She grew up in Pittsburgh Pa, where I am from as well and she has a strong love for country music and Carrie Underwood.
Now taking a break from love songs. I wanna share my “ getting pumped” songs. No matter what, when I hear these songs I get my groove on.
Wolf in Sheep's Clothing- Set It Off
I first heard this song back in high school, my senior year, I was getting out of a relationship and it helped me. Now whenever it plays, I shift into my own world and pour my heart into the song.
Blown Away- Carrie Underwood
I grew up on country music. When I first heard Carrie I was in love. She is my idol. I finally got to see her in concert 2 years ago and I loved it. Hearing that song live, blew me away.
Whiskey Glasses- Morgan Wallen
My dad introduced me to this song. He played it on repeat. This is one of few songs that I learned the whole song to quickly. It’s a good song even though it's a breakup song.
Vices- Mothica
This song was really an inspiration for me. This artist went through hell and back. This song is about her vices and what she used to go to to make her feel better. I can relate to the song because some of them were my vices as well. Not only is it relatable it's inspiring. This artist is sharing her story through song and is reaching many listeners out there who struggle as well. They need to know they are not alone.
Each song on this list plays a big part in my life. They fill me with joy and lift me up when I need it. Music is the way of my heart. Besides literature of course.
