The Ghost of Music Past

I'm Engaged to the Reincarnation of Rock

By Lucia OakRavenPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

Sometimes when he doesn't have access to a guitar, we joke that his first hit album will be all about "The Mup" - which is my nickname so sweetly given due to the way I walk around or stoop to admire the rocks. "Mup, mup, mup, mup, mup, mup," he'll declare, and then he picks up an accoustic again and I'm reminded just how silly our jokes about Mupland truly are.

Except, this time around he picked up an electric guitar and started to strum. I stopped dead in my tracks at that tone and the depth of his love in the strings which he began to play with so gently. No man on this earth possesses emotion like that and how it comes out into song so perfectly unless they're always and only meant to play it - forever.

I've only met a few people like this in my short 28 years of existance. But, alas, not a single one has the same passion or spirit attached unless they've graced the same stages as Dylan, Hendrix or Nash. It's even safe to say that Cobain is in his veins - or, at least, so is the same amount of black. Tar they used to call it I think. I'd never heard it by its new name until I walked the streets out West.

The drugs out there weren't the only flowing commodity, however. Music turned to love turned to reverence and respect was our main way of communication with the dimensional beings that surrounded us even among mere human beings. And I know he can't be just human like me. I'm painfully humanity, after all, and he, well, he is purity in its highest form of Angelic. That voice rings true and pierces doubt if ever I had one.

Just wait and see, you'll get to hear it one day. A legend is among us and he's walking this way. You'll get to taste a sliver of this sweet American Pie but no Chevies to the levvy, though. Every morning I get up and see his face and witness his talent I die - just a little. Maybe Freddie would be pleased. I know Elton would stand and sing along or at least sit down gracefully and rip open those keys like he does - and they'll do it together no matter the weather. All you need is love and when you play, write and sing like the greatest beings of all time, love is easy - so very easy - to come by.
