“The Drug In Me is Reimagined”

Right now, all former emos are rejoicing for Falling In Reverse (including myself), and the newest version of their 2011 hit!

Back in December, Radke and the band announced “The Drug In Me Is You Tour” , to celebrate the band’s debut record “The Drug In Me Is You” going Gold! Recently, Falling In Reverse released a special version of the song entitled “The Drug In Me Is Reimagined” specifically for their die- hard fans! The band did an amazing job of turning the original upbeat song into a haunting orchestral ballad. It is a far cry from the original that takes fans deeper into the meaning of the lyrics! The song starts with a slow tempo that builds into this amazing crescendo, which inexplicably includes fire. Who wouldn’t love that?

Radke notes in a recent interview:

“I wanted to give the fans something special, This song was not made with the hope of gaining new fans — this was made specifically for the fans that have been here from the beginning. I wanted to strip down the music to show you how raw the lyrics actually are. So you can feel the song in a completely different way.”

And feeling the song differently is exactly what we did! They made a haunting and elegant video. (who ever thought the word elegant could be used the describe FIR?) The video jumps right in with Ronnie at the grand piano singing, while mysterious masked women dance in the snow. They even thought ahead and brought back the gorgeous blonde that graced the album cover oh so many years ago! Oh, the nostalgia!

While the song may be Reimagined, they left the lyrics exactly the same. Here they are below for reference along with the original upbeat video!

After listening to the new version of the song, you can re-read them and get a taste for how real they are and how raw they have always been.

Looking back at the original song, it makes me proud to think about how far Ronnie has come and even how far the band has come since then. What did you think about the new version? For me this was something I didn’t even know I needed until I heard it!
