The Best EDM Duo You've Never Heard Of Before
Take a listen from this duo from D.C.

You may be familiar with EDM artists such as, Skrillex, Daft Punk, and Matthew Parker. But do you know Capital Kings? If not, you are missing out on some great music by talented artists. Capital Kings is made up by musicians Jon White and Cole Walowac. Jon is the lead vocalist while Cole provides the rap. The duo, from Washington D.C., got their break into music by remixing. They provided remixes for the legendary artist, tobyMac on his remix album “Dubbed & Frequed”. Through this connection Toby liked their style and signed them on his record label Gotee Records. They released their debut album titled “Capital Kings” in 2013. The album has ten songs and features collaborations from artists like Toby Mac, Britt Nicole, Royal Tailor, and Solomon Olds(aka Soul Glow Activatur). Their album is a mixture of dubstep, electronic pop, house, hip-hop, rap, and dance music.
While the album is guaranteed to make you move, there are also some positive messages you can get from these songs. I'll give some examples. “We Belong as One” is a song about the theme of unity and getting along with each other despite cultural or ethnic differences. “You'll Never Be Alone” is an uplifting electronicia song that reminds us that God is with us no matter the circumstances. And “Living For The Other Side” is a slow groove about living for something more than just this life, but for the next life. Some of the songs might be difficult to understand, but other than that it is an enjoyable album to jam to. Eventually, Capital Kings only started to grow from here. They joined the Winter Jam Tour in November 2013 with Toby Mac, Royal Tailor, and many others. From this platform they got to perform in front of thousands of fans around America. After touring with Winter Jam, they did an exclusive tour going up and down Central and South America. By this they grew their fanbase considerably. For their next project, they launched a remix album compiled of a few songs from their first album. But this wasn't any ordinary remix album. To get their songs remixed, they started a contest on their official website allowing anyone to remix and submit their songs their. Those who won would get their remixes on the official album. The winners were Matthew Parker, Nico Stadi, Neon Feather, Smile Future, and Soul Glow Activatur.
During this time, the two stayed busy during interviews and touring. They also remixed music from a variety of artists during their tenure. Theses include Britt Nicole, Toby Mac(again), Mandisa, Sanctus Real, Colton Dixon, Justin Bieber, Natalie Grant, and Family Force 5. They even assisted in producing music for Aussie pop-rock group, Newsboys. It wasn't long before they had new music on the horizon. Their next album would be better and livelier than the first one. The second album which is simply titled “2”, was met with a lot of positive response. On the week it dropped in 2015, it rose to number three on the “US Billboard Dance/Electronic Album” charts. The only collabs on this record where KB and Chris Tomlin. The top songs from here are “Fireblazin”, “Into Your Arms”, “Afterlight”, and “Northern Sky”. “Two” implements more of a electronic pop, rock, and rap style than the first album. However, this is one of the most innovative EDM albums to date.
After the release of “2”, they started touring again, but with rapper NF and DJ Promote. This ended up being one the top tours of the year. Not long after this, Jon announced that he would be leaving the group. He decided to go solo and make his own music. Despite this, new musician ,Dylan Housewright, stepped in his place to do the vocals. Dylan's voice is a bit similar to Jon's, yet it's more smoother. With the new line up, they released four singles: “Don't Wanna Wake Up”, “I Can't Quit” (feat. Reconcile), “All Good” (feat. Hollyn), and “Rip It UP”(feat. Aaron Cole). After the last song, Cole and Dylan decided to end the group to pursue other careers. However, they are still remixing music from time to time. Rather they will return to create new music is still up for debate. Thanks for reading and hope you check out their music.
