The Anime Returns

My goodness, a lot has happened this month! I was all prepared to put this article out on February 17th, but then I got several more suggestions, which upended the order and I proceeded to be slowed down in my motivations for around a week and a half. Then I got sick (0/10 do not recommend) and after that week, my work got super busy. Needless to say, I’ve had no energy to sit down and write anything at all. And while I’m still struggling with that last one, at least when it comes to more creative things, everything else has settled back to normal. So here I am! Hello!

Way back on the 17th, this playlist was clocking in at around 35 minutes. Can you imagine? I was so disappointed. The shortest of all of these so far, and for, arguably, the most interesting. (And you wonder why I’m winding this series down??) Anyway, I’m so glad to say that because of those last minute submissions, we’ve brought the final playlist up to 55 mins on Spotify and a full hour on YouTube! Thank you to everyone who submitted more than one song—I’m looking at you, Natalie and Paul. I didn’t want this to be a super short listen and thanks to you, it isn’t!

I will leave the submissions open, so if you’re reading this and the date is definitely later than March 9th, 2025, you can still suggest your favorite anime songs in the comments. I’ll add them to the YouTube and Spotify versions as soon as possible.

I’m never sure how to go about placing songs of different tempos and intensities. This one, I decided, should end on a peaceful note, so I front-loaded it with the more upbeat and/or rockin’ songs. If they aren’t your scene, please be assured that there is a change in vibes! And if they are your scene…well, I hope you enjoy the change, lol.

After listening to every song I received, I think I’ll have to watch a few new shows! Some of them are just gorgeous, and others intrigue me about the storylines, like one called “Naji no Uta.” I couldn’t find it on Spotify but it is on YouTube with an English translation. It’s a folk song that was sung within an episode of “Seirei no Moribito.” It’s so charming. I love songs like that, that only exist within and for a story. If you don’t normally listen to the YouTube versions of these playlists, I recommend it this time just so you can hear that song.

I wish I could keep doing these community compilations. As you might remember, I had a couple more ideas in my back pocket, but it’s time to do something different. Maybe I’ll run a Beat challenge at some point. Dare I ask if there’s any interest?
