Survival of the Fittest
This Is the Way... (the workout playlist of the gods)

Let me first start by saying this; appearances can be deceiving. Nothing looks like it supposed to be. So imagine you see someone and associate them with a particular song. Well if you look at me, you would assume I listen to hip hop or rap. Mainly because of the color of my skin, and just my sheer size. Tank top, sweat pants, black gloves, and beanie hat; who wouldn't assume this about me in a gym. Not so much the case. There is a population of people who enjoy listening to this genre of music when they're exercising. I’m not going to say that I don't fancy a trap song here or there, however, I take a much different method. Usually equipped with black over-ear headphones, pre-workout shake, batman beanie, and a tattoo across my chest, and with my imagination, I take my mind to the other side.
How am I able to do this, and engage in an intense body exercise? Well, that's simple; with music. So, music can be the determining factor that can decide if a workout was pathetic or monumental. Well, I keep my playlist monumental.
This music helps me focus, intensely, on my task at hand. What is that task….. To become stronger, faster, and fit. The motto of my workout is: It’s survival of the fittest because this is the way!
I eat, sleep, and breathe that philosophy. So my music must entail this. Now, again, here's where it gets interesting. based on my appearance, you would think I would listen to typical trap music. Again, I must prove you wrong. My playlist is litter and engulfed with rock and roll, industrial, alternative, and metal music. Simply put, the more screaming and guitars, the better it sounds to me. And my playlist is decorated with some of the industry's greatest knowns and unknowns.
Here's the recipe: Add 10 servings of Deftones, 4 servings of Static- X ( RIP Wayne Static), 3 servings of Korn, 4 servings of System of a Down, a nice big serving of Rob Zombie ( sprinkle some White Zombie on top), a big serving of Nirvana, a serving of Matasdon, and a dash of Marylin Mason, Puscifer, My Chemical Romance, Aerosmith, Soundgarden, Fluke, Disturbed, NIN, Godsmack, A Perfect Circle. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gorillaz, N.E.R.D, Drawing Pool, City in the Sea, and Pantera. And place the Queen of The Damned soundtrack on top! This is the recipe for a survival of the fittest music playlist.
270 songs. 19 hours and 45 minutes.
That's how long the playlist is. Of course, I cannot work out for 19 hours straight, but I can give you a little taste of what the scientist has mixed in the bowl.
The top songs I listen to, and which ones make me transcend the most, are listed below:
The Purge- City in the Sea
Deftones- Needles and Pins, Battle Axe, Minerva, Rosemary, Entombed, Cherry Waves, Combat, Digital Bath, Passenger, Prince, Lucky You, My Own Summer (Shove It), MX, Knife Prty, Change, Bored, One Weak, Radiant City, Spell of Mathematics
Static- X- Push It, Trance Is the Motion, Tera- Fied, Cold
Drowning Pool- Bodies
Pantera- 10’s
marilyn Manson- The Beautiful People
Puscifer- Momma Sed Tandimonium Version, Trekka” Desert Porn”
Rob Zombie- The Devils Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses
System of A Down- Sugar, Needles, Deer Dance, Psycho, Chop Suey, Hypnotize, Question, Spiders
White Zombie- Electric Head Pt. 1, Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks, and…, Blood Milk and Sky
Nirvana- Smells Like a Teen Spirit
Matasdon- The Wolf is Loose
And we haven't even scratched the surface of this playlist. That's just the tip of the iceberg. But this iceberg will bring down the fitness titanic. To make it through this survival of the fittest workout, you have to engulf thyself in the words and the vibration of this music. And to add a better secret… I listen to all this music chopped and screwed and slowed down!!! (shhh... Don't tell anyone lol)
As stated earlier, with my imagination, and the vibration of the sounds and words, is a one-way ticket to the other. While on the other side when working out, I can forget about all the troubles of the world. I can forget about the pain, I can let go of distractions; I can let go of fear and failure. I can transcend to a new level. A new level of physical fitness and aptitude. All that stands between me and my goal, is me. So this playlist helps me battle the inner “evils and doubts” in my mind. It helps me overcome my mental and physical limitations.
Strength, speed, stamina…. All growing with each singing word.
Each verse, playing more ever-present in my life, forcing me to push harder.
Here are some of the verses which create more energy for me, and I pump, push, and lift to higher levels.
“Do we do we know, when we fly, when we, when we go, do we die….”
System of a Down- Question
“Demons surround you, yeah…. I'm crawling on the ground…. Shame for another, yeah…..another taste of life... it's alive”
White Zombie- Ratfinks, Suicide Tanks, and…..
Tune out everyone in the crowd…..because now it's just me and you…...come fall in love with the sound…
Deftones- Needles and Pins
My foes...they can't destroy my body… colliding slow... Like life itself
Pantera- 10’s
The snakes come pouring out you heart, and I know I can’t deny them
Deftones- Spell of Mathematics
Wash away into the rain, blood milk and sky, hollow moons illuminate, and beauty never dies
White Zombie- Blood, Milk, and Sky
Wage war between perfection and reality….the ...purge….is...now!!!
The Purge- City In the Sea
This is just a small sample of the musical tunes I have pulsing through my eardrums, and I breathe hard and push harder.
And funny thing is, based on how I look, you would never be able to tell that I enjoy that type of music in my daily life.
Words are power, and the more power you have, the more powerful you can become. Its survival of the fittest because this is the way!!
