I will readily admit, I’ve never written a song before, I’ve made attempts in my youth but never finished anything. I’ve always found my niche in poetry. However, there was something in me that felt a pull to this challenge. Now I can saw that I HAVE written a song, something humming around in my little neurodivergent heart.

Star Child

VERSE ONE

She had a family, in a little house on the bay,

they all had said she came in the normal sort of way.

She herself did wonder if she came from the stars,

dropped from the cosmos and just decided she should stay.

She was always two steps ahead or two steps trailing behind,

trying to keep up and yet slow down all at the same time.

They all said she spoke real funny, and moved in strange ways,

they also wondered if maybe she really was from a different part of space.

Her laughter could ripple through time’s endless stream,

Her focus was a portal to some cosmic dream.

PRE CHORUS

Did you fall from the moon, star child?

Did you sprout from the ground, wondrous and wild?

They want you to join the crowd,

but their voices are just too loud.

CHORUS

Never stop mapping the star charts of your heart,

Don’t let them force you into a mask,

just to appear how they want.

Star child, you’re more than their fears.

You’re a tapestry of magic

they aren’t clever enough to weave.

VERSE TWO

Eyes shut tight when the world’s too bright,

She finds a glow in fading light.

Her hands trace figures, steady and sure,

Like potions that shimmer, strong and pure.

They see her in shadows, we see her shine,

Her story is a riddle carved in every line.

She’s a visitor from the cosmos, a spark in the night,

Chasing constellations we can’t see in our skies.

In our clamor and chaos, she drifts her own way,

A celestial wanderer, too vast to stay.

PRE CHORUS

Did you fall from the moon, star child?

Did you sprout from the ground, wondrous and wild?

They want you to join the crowd,

but their voices are just too loud.

CHORUS

Never stop mapping the star charts of your heart,

Don’t let them force you into a mask,

just so they can see you how they want.

Star child, you’re more than their fears.

You’re a masterpiece of magic

they aren’t clever enough to create.

BRIDGE

She is a melody of stardust.

We long to hear the songs she weaves,

To witness magic only she believes.

Oh, let us glimpse her mystery,

Her silent symphony.

I wonder what dreams light the paths in her mind,

What gardens she wanders, what castles she can find.

Her silence is loud with a truth of its own,

A language of being, so fiercely her own.

CHORUS

Never stop mapping the star charts of your heart,

Don’t let them force you into a mask,

just so they can see you how they want.

Star child, you’re more than their fears.

You’re a masterpiece of magic

they aren’t clever enough to create.

OUTRO

She’s not like us, yet she’s our guide,

to a different plane, the other side.

Her silent symphony still so planetary & grand,

We’re reaching out to her to understand.
