Rumble effect of the pandemic in the world of music
For most of the artists, the pandemic came as a nightmare and pulled back most of the opportunities almost everyone got affected by the pandemic especially the music industry

For most of the artists, pandemic came as a nightmare and pulled back most of the opportunities. From a life full of glamour interactions, shows, and tours in a blink of an eye, It completely moved towards a room filled with gadgets and musical instruments. All of us want a vacation from work but not in the way we got. Almost everyone got affected by the pandemic especially the music industry
The pandemic not only pushed the financial issue but also affected mental health at the same time. There was no scope of live shows or performances that could happen in the meantime which resulted in a situation of crisis. This also gave rise to a number of other certain issues which neglected the importance of well-being.. It was not that hard for some of the musicians to cope up with this situation whereas some of them worked on their skills to make it perfect by making use of the lockdown. This situation also gave rise to the question of having an alternative plan to pursue music.
“The lockdown helped me to focus on acting which was my first priority as a career and helped me to work on shaping my skills. This pandemic somehow delayed some of my projects but this also gave me the time to work on myself as an artist which I was not able to do on the regular days.”Siddhant Setu is primarily an actor cum musician who came up with some music albums and is willing to see his future as an actor
James is a member of a music band in the city and is working with some NGOs to help the artists in remote areas. James Sunny spoke about the life of local artists in remote areas who are dependent on shows. Their condition during the lockdown where he thinks that the government must do something for the local artists in the remote area to cope up with the financial crises, which they are facing during the time of lockdown.
Mark Page is a full-time musician and in this lockdown, he is teaching students from Bangalore and even out of India and he is also into music production says that “People face anxiety and depression and more problem related to mental health but as a musician, it is easier for us to cope up with this because our mind is preoccupied with making music and working on skills. I also faced anxiety but as I believed music helped me to get out of this. I am not against having a backup plan for the future but you also need to be sure that your efforts don’t go in vain. if we have a backup plan our focus and dignity for our passion goes down then we start taking it for granted that if not this we have a backup plan to work on. Give your 100% even if you have a backup plan ready, try to be focused on your passion and you will not come in the situation where you need to use it.” Rovin yashawik is Delhi based performer who is currently working as a service advisor in an IT company. He was fully dependent on music for his livelihood and earned a good amount but the pandemic leads him to work in the IT company. Although for a short span of time he had to stay away from music. As a performer he can't stay away from music for a long time he is planning to come back soon after all the things will be back to place.
The abasement in the lifestyle due to the financial crisis which came up with the pandemic was hard to cope up with. No one ever thought that something like this was going to happen but this situation taught us the importance of saving for bad times. It's important to have a backup plan in whatever field you are going it's just about the artist that they are facing these kinds of issue many people who work in the organized sector also faces a crisis.
“Lockdown made me self-dependent and pushed me to work on myself and my skills. However, opportunities decreased and we were not able to go and perform anywhere. As a fresher, we need to have the skill to focus on our skills and craft. And this was the best time to work on it.” Abhishek Aditya is a young musician and a member of a band named strafish
"Our lifestyle totally changed from performing and interacting with the audience to just sitting in a room with our instruments. We were not able to interact with our audience often in this time but we utilized it to work on our skills. this lockdown had pros and cons but there is always a bright day after a dark night "Abhishek raj is a musician and in this lockdown, he learned music compositing and sound mixing by making the best use of this time
“Parents rarely allow their children to go into the creative sectors because of the uncertainty that may prevail in this sector. After this pandemic, looking at the suffering of the artist these days may decrease the number of freshers. The field of creativity needs a perfect balance of patience and talent to survive. it's just that this pandemic has taught us to stay strong and make the correct use of this time” Abhishek paul
People often say that artists don’t face many issues because they have alternative platforms. Social media is one of them where they can perform and can interact with people but it's not easy to go live without adequate equipment which is needed to do. Music equipment is very costly. Gautam who is a young artist performing at a cookbook cafe said that Many youngsters make the mistake of dropping out of college and follow their passion. I think that doing this is not correct. It’s very important for everyone to complete their academic so that in a situation like this they don’t face any problem which many artists are facing these days
Most people have faced challenges in this pandemic but have not been able to get over for a long time. Some of them have faced mental pressure whereas others have faced difficulties regarding finance. But it also gave them the opportunity to shape their skills and work on them While having interactions with these artists we came to knew that regardless of their stream, the ones who were trained were better off during the pandemic over the rest of them.
