Produced by Gus Van Go (Metric, The Beaches, Arkells) at Boiler Room Studios, “How Far Would You Go” is a vibrant burst of psychedelic pop anchored by lyrical vulnerability and tight, polished production. The song melds radiant instrumentation with introspective lyrics, creating a listening experience that is as joyous as it is contemplative, with shimmering synths, pulsing basslines, and an infectious rhythm that invites repeated plays.
Reflecting on the track, Matthew Ryan Rogers (vocals, keys, bass) shares:
“We wrote this song two summers ago when I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be touring and doing the whole band thing anymore. Musically though, the song is quite the opposite – it’s got spark and it’s just pure fun. I really love the contrast between the lyrics and music on this one. For me, this is the closest we’ve come to writing a pop song – the lyrics are honest, and the production is tight.”
This single marks a turning point for FLEECE, a band entering a new era — one that is deeper, sharper, and more grounded in truth. After stepping back from the noise of touring and social media, the band returned in May 2025 with “So Much Better Now,” a dreamy and introspective track that signaled a tonal shift toward stillness, intention, and emotional clarity. With “How Far Would You Go,” FLEECE builds on that foundation, offering a song that is both expansive and intimate, a reflection of the band’s growth as artists and as a collective.
Since forming in Montreal in the mid-2010s, FLEECE has earned acclaim for emotionally rich songwriting, genre-fluid arrangements, and magnetic live shows rooted in chosen family and creative trust. Their breakout record Stunning & Atrocious (2021) showcased their ability to blend vulnerability with sonic adventurousness, a quality that continues through the tracks of TORNADO. The band consistently prioritizes honesty over expectation, creating music that resonates both on a personal and communal level.
Now composed of Matthew Ryan Rogers, Megan Ennenberg (vocals, guitar), Jameson Daniel (guitar), and Ethan Soil (drums), FLEECE writes from a place of reflection and realness. Every member contributes to the band’s emotionally layered sound, from intricate guitar work and soaring vocal harmonies to rhythmically compelling percussion. Their synergy is evident on “How Far Would You Go,” a song that feels alive, joyful, and yet grounded in the complexity of real emotions.
As the first glimpse of TORNADO, “How Far Would You Go” sets the tone for what promises to be FLEECE’s most open-hearted and dynamic record yet. The single blends vibrant energy with thoughtful introspection, reflecting the band’s ongoing evolution while staying true to their roots in Montreal’s rich music scene. With a commitment to authenticity, a renewed creative focus, and a sound that is both polished and playful, FLEECE signals that they are stepping into this new era with clarity, excitement, and fearless artistic intent.
With “How Far Would You Go,” FLEECE demonstrates their mastery of emotional nuance, musical sophistication, and pop-infused experimentation, offering listeners an unforgettable track that is as joyful as it is honest — and an exciting first look at the journey that lies ahead with TORNADO.
FLEECE is ready to take over the world.
