Megan Thee Stallion, “Good News” Review
Megan Debut Album Review

Megan! Megan Thee Stallion released her debut album, “Good News” and I was thrilled to hear about it because Megan is definitely one of the top rappers right now and plus I love Megan’s personality. She’s just so sweet and confident and funny, so I’m ready to see what her album is gonna be like. So let’s go!

Track 1 - Shots Fired
So we start off with a really strong track. Like damn. Right off the bat she calls out Tory and other fools, the first like being “Imagine n***** lyin’ ‘bout shooting a real bitch”. Like damn, I know she ain’t talking about me but I feel attacked and I wronged her or something. Ok jokes aside, this is a bop. It’s a very confident track and a great opener.
9/10

Track 2 - Circles:
Next up another confident track called Circles, but she touches upon more personal topics, like her mom’s death and a lame ass boy playing with her. I’m glad we got to hear a little more about her personal issues in this track, but it’s still quite bubbly and fun to listen to. I like how she sampled James Sullivan and her presence on this track. I also love the outro and how it softens out in the end. Overall I really like this song.
9/10

Track 3 - Crybaby Ft. DaBaby:
Well um...we didn’t need DaBaby. Like I just really didn’t like his verse at all and how he opened up the track. Plus the instrumental is kind of weird, but it goes with the title “Crybaby” so it makes sense. So the first half, I hated, but then when Megan comes in, I love the song. It makes me want to only listen to the last half of the song. I wasn’t feeling DaBaby verse, but Megan popped off. So I would probably skip this song or just go to Megan’s verse.
5/10

Track 4 - Do It on the Tip ft City Girls & Hot Girl Meg
Ok so the girls came for blood. They ate this shit up! They all flowed so well together, and the beat is simple but quite impactful with how they play with the beat. They just match each other’s energy so well, and this is definitely one of my favorite songs on the album.
10/10

Track 5 - Sugar Baby
Onto another one of my favorite songs. I love the instrumental, Megan’s confidence and her cadence, and the lyrics. The lyrics are so fun and playful. Some of my favorite lyrics is “Invest in this pussy, boy, support black business” and “Thinkin’ that he Future, I’m a leave him in the past tense.” The future line made me laugh a bit the first time I listened to Sugar Baby. It’s such a fun song.
10/10

Track 6 - Movie Ft. Lil Durk
Next is Movie, and honestly I don’t have much to say about this song. I mean I like the song, but it didn’t really stand out to me. But there was one line where Megan said, “I don’t kiss you cause I know you eating ass” and I lost it LMAO. It was so funny and like damn, damn! I love that line. That’s all I got to say haha.
7/10

Track 7 - Freaky Girls Ft. SZA
Now when I saw that SZA was on this song, I knew it was going to be a bop. Then when I first listened to the song, it went beyond my expectations. First of all, they sampled Adina Howard Freak Like Me, and they served with this 90s R&B song. This was perfect! Ok and SZA vocals! First of all, SZA! Where’s your album? We need another album ma’am! But thank you for serving on this track. Then Megan, again you popped off! And wow I need to stop writing like they will ever see this lmao! Anyways SZA and Megan paired with each other so well, and did amazing. This song is it!
10/10

Track 8 - Body
Onto Body. This is a good song. Megan of course ate up her verses, and I like the second part of the chorus, but I can’t stand the “Body-ody-ody-ody” part. I don’t like it at all. It’s just...no. All I have to say to that part is no. But with the rest of the song, I like it.
8/10

Track 9 - What’s New
This is another fun song. I love how Megan extends her words like “Fuck you” and “What’s new” It is so cute yet sassy. Again her confidence on this track is unmatched. I feel like a bad bitch listening to this song, and overall I enjoy this song.
9/10

Track 10 - Work That
This song is a bit more softer, but the lyrics hit hard as hell. I love the juxtaposition of the softer instrumental with the punchy lyrics. I also enjoy the chorus and how Megan sings a little with “ride it like a rodeo”. It’s a cute song, and I like it.
8/10

Track 11 - Intercourse ft Popcaan & Mustard
Intercourse. What a sexy ass song. From Popcaan to the instrumental to Megan’s verse, it’s so smooth and sexy. It’s such a good song, and the best Collab with male artists on the album. I just feel like I’m on a hidden Island or something. This song is perfect. Periodt.
10/10

Track 12 - Go Crazy ft. Big Sean & 2 Chainz
Onto Go Crazy. I’m not a fan of this song. I don’t like the chorus. It falls flat. Then I don’t like Big Sean and 2 Chainz parts on this track. They feel off to me. Then with Megan, her verses were ok, but overall I didn’t like this track. Definitely one of my least favorites on this album.
6/10

Track 13 - Don’t Rock Me To Sleep
Now here we are. Don’t Rock Me To Sleep. Now earlier I said I like how Megan sang a bit in Work That, but that doesn’t mean I want a whole song of her singing. Now I appreciate how Megan tried something new and a bit outside her box, but it falls flat. I mean it’s a cute song that I can hear playing in the background of an H&M, but actually focusing on the song it’s boring. Like it’s perfect as background music, but actually sitting down and listening to it, it’s not good. It’s an ok song.
6/10

Track 14 - Outside:
Next is Outside. And wow we are kind of on a streak of not that good of songs. Outside is just kind of boring to me and doesn’t really do much for me. The only think that stuck out to me was the line “I ain’t for the streets, cause bitch I am the street” I really like that line and it’s interesting, but it’s the only interesting thing to me. Overall I’m just not feeling the song, it’s ok.
7/10

Track 15 - Savage Ft. Beyoncé
Now we have Savage with Beyoncé. I mean, if Beyoncé is on the song, there’s a 99% chance of the song being fucking amazing, and this song is fucking amazing. They pair so well with each other, and the overflowing confidence is unmatched. Savage is a whole bop! Periodt!
10/10

Track 16 - Girls In The Hood
Another one of my fave songs, Girls In The Hood pops off. Again I feel like a bad bitch listening to this song. I love this song and the confidence and just ugh! A bop. Periodt!
10/10

Track 17 - Don’t Stop ft. Young Thug
Last song is Don’t Stop, and it’s kind of a poor choice for a closer to the album, but oh well I guess. I really enjoy the skrillex type of instrumental and I like Megan opening verse, but the chorus is so lackluster. It has no flavor. Then Young Thug verse is ok. His verse didn’t do much for the song. Overall this song is ok.
7/10
Well that was Good News by Megan Thee Stallion. And I kind of have mixed feelings I guess. Because there are songs I absolutely love and other songs I can’t stand at all. But for her first debut album, I think it was pretty solid and I like how she went outside the box for some of her songs, sometimes it worked and sometimes it doesn’t, but Good News is a nice debut album.
