Liv Hanna Unleashes New Song "Proud of Yourself"

Singer-songwriter and model Liv Hanna closes out the month of August with a new single, "Proud of Yourself." "Proud of Yourself" is sonically and thematically different from her previous record, "TEASE ME." About "Proud of Yourself"

"Proud of Yourself" is akin to an oxymoron as the title suggests a positive theme. However, Liv Hanna cleverly uses the phrase in an ironic manner. The track is about having someone in one's life who is self-absorbed and dismissive. "'Proud of Yourself' is about having a person in your life that doesn’t truly listen to you or understand where you are coming from and always makes things about them." Liv Hanna continues, "They can say that they are proud of you or give you some attention, but it isn’t genuine because they are only really proud of themselves."

Liv Hanna once again enlisted renowned producer Flex to produce "Proud of Yourself." Flex was responsible for the production of Liv Hanna's most recent record, "TEASE ME." The masterful, heartfelt lyrics were entirely penned by Liv Hanna. The stripped back feel of the song allows Liv Hanna's beautiful, emotive, powerful voice to shine. How did you get your artist name?

Well, my full name is Olivia Hanna, and back in high school, my best friend at the time started calling me Liv and it has stuck ever since. Everyone calls me Liv now, it is even registered as my official name at my college and on my student ID. I think it’s kinda cool having two first names.

What city are you from and where are you based now?

I was born and raised in Garden City, New York, but live in South Miami now. I still go back and forth between New York and Miami from time to time.

Who are some of your main musical influences?

I literally listen to everything from Elton John to Eminem. However, my influences include Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus, Fletcher, Lana Del Rey, Nessa Barrett, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish.

Who would be a dream to collaborate with?

Dream collaboration changes all the time, but probably Billie Eilish and to sing with/meet a celebrity, it would be Jennifer Hudson.

What would you say are the greatest lessons you’ve learned so far?

Be patient and don’t compare your songs to each other. When I’m songwriting, I’ve learned that I can’t judge it because each project is different and one’s not necessarily better than the other, and what I’m writing isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just different.
