Jazzy at Prysm Nightclub - Chicago
From the lush green depths of Dublin to the shimmering lights of the Chicago skyline...Prysm welcomes house DJ Jazzy.

When it comes to house music, topographically we do not usually think of "Dublin" as the first city that comes to mind. Chicago, New York and of course Berlin would be my personal primary associations, but who would have thought that a Dublin native is able to bring forth such a powerful sound?
If you have been reading my articles long enough, you'll know that house music is the genre of my dancing heart.
Jazzy, also known as Yasmine Byrne, captivated me first through her colorful and very personable form of marketing on social media while promoting "Giving Me"...I couldn't help but wonder...who is that girl pulling the chain on two hefty dobermans? Jazzy had a fruitful number of reels...from cheeky dances to dramatic renditions to regular studio recordings, this song was sure to take over the house charts.
As I thought firmly of Yasmine's hometown, I figured that there is a common denominator amongst Chicago, Berlin, New York and Dublin: a strong sense of community and love for dance music...no matter which automation it is being expressed in. In their recent collaborations with Belters Only, their hit songs have been climbing the European music charts and dominating house hearts, slowly but surely, in the US as well.
Is Jazzy considered a bit underground? Perhaps. She is a unique artist that not many have had the pleasure of discovering yet. During the recording and making of one of her biggest hits, "Giving Me", she had no idea that it was catapult her to the top of the charts. She is the first woman in Ireland to top the house music charts and judging by her undeniably clever way of blending house music with the likes of soul together, it felt like it gave the Chicago audience something to swoon over. This is the home of blues and house music respectfully. Jazzy picked the right city to infuse her signature style of showcasing her soulful depth with a modern electronic polish. It's timeless and fresh and exactly what we have all ordered on a boutiful Saturday night. She has an interesting approach with putting together R&B and Garage House and soul into one creating a rich crossover of genres; so you can tell those snobby music friends that it's not just an 'eentz-eentz-eentz' beat on repeat, but something that provides a combination between soul vocals layered with swift, clubby beats. So in a sense, Jazzy's performance was an homage, a gentle nod and a beautiful musical hug honoring its very own patrons.
Jazzy is sort of an anomaly; synonymous to the level of success as Bebe Rexha. She's collaborated with a lot of really great artists, had an influence on many musical hits lyrically, and has had hits on the radio and achieved mainstream success...even though people still wonder...who is Jazzy? As far as her vocals, she has a smoky, but soft tone. It's expressive, but not overbearing, it's confident yet not super polished. It's rough and authentic which gives her that Jazzy edge.
Jazzy has quite a few incredible achievements under her belt; Glastonbury Music Festival and Tomorrowland to name a couple is quite the stretch from her first days DJing at local hubs around Dublin. Her energy is infectious and she was able to get everyone on the dance floor.
The night was electric and magical under iridescent strobe lights that shined crimson, violet, and blue...the effects were interesting as I people watched dancing bodies everywhere moving in slow motion and grooving to the beat. Every element of the show was meticulously executed; it felt like an out-of-body experience and a wave of nostalgia to the good ol' days consumed me. I missed the flicker beats, the rhythm of my heart syched with the bass and being amongst people who enjoy punchy basslines and fast paced beats as much as I do.
Best of all...you can relive the night by checking out our photo montage from the show on pachelbellpresents.
