Halloween has arrived, and with it, the desire to voluntarily have your pants scared off your body. This playlist, designed to be both a little unnerving but also hip, is gonna be the perfect addition to your spooky season. Get ready to BOOgie the night away.

1) A Little Death, The Neighbourhood

To start this playlist off, "A Little Death" tells the story of a woman meeting someone at a bar and going back to a hotel room. The opening verse sets the scene with a neighbor banging on the door, and a bed left in ruins. The song has an allure of both mystery and passion, which makes it the perfect song to get into the vibe of this playlist.

"...darling your looks can kill, so now...

You're.

Dead."

2) Dark Lady, Cher

A Halloween playlist without this song is criminal. Cher is an amazing storyteller, and "Dark Lady" is no exception. A little witchy and a little mysterious, this song checks off all the boxes to make it onto this playlist.

"Dark Lady played black magic 'till the clock stroke on the 12.

She told me more about me than I knew myself."

3) Devil's Playground, The Rigs

The embodiment of forbidden fruit, the "Devil's Playground" is somewhere you shouldn't end up, and yet there is something so delicious about being invited. Perfectly spooky and tempting, this song is the ideal backdrop for your Halloween fantasies.

"Welcome to the devil's playground

You can tread where demons play

It's your Candyland where dreamers dance

And I promise that it's safe."

4) Freak, Sub Urban ft. REI AMI

A little terrifying, but in the best way possible. The unhinged ambiance of this song adds to the overall feeling of unease to this playlist, while also being catchy as hell.

"Let me be your freak show, I could be your favorite monster

Lock me up, don't let me out 'cause you know I can't help myself."

5) Bones, MS MR

The visuals of this song are unrivaled with everything else on this playlist. It's hard to pick just one line because the entire song is gold when it comes to the creepy feeling you get listening to the descriptions.

"Dig up her bones but leave the soul alone

Lost in the pages of self-made cages."

6) Flesh, Simon Curtis

With a little bit of a vampire vibe going on, this song made it onto this playlist because it's all about deep desires and being able to act on them, a.k.a the essence of Halloween; being able to let go and be what you want while no one knows who you are.

"This is just my way of unleashing the feelings deep inside of me

This spark of black that I seem to love."

7) Control, Halsey

A battle of madness, "Control" is about being in control of your mind while simultaneously being afraid of it. The song has a beautifully chilly feel to it, landing it a spot on this playlist.

"I sat alone, in bed till the morning

I'm crying, 'They're coming for me'

And I tried to hold these secrets inside me

My mind's like a deadly disease"

8) Mad Hatter, Melanie Martinez

In a slightly different tone, "Mad Hatter" is less a battle and more about embracing the madness within. And because Halloween is all about letting out your inner freak, this song had to be on this playlist.

"I'm peeling the skin off my face

'Cause I really hate being safe

The normals, they make me afraid

The crazies, they make me feel sane"

9) This Is Halloween, Marilyn Manson

To finish off this playlist, we have the classic "This is Halloween", but with a pop twist. The juxtaposition of the original version compared to this much darker version are the epitome of this playlist, making it the perfect, spooky conclusion to this Halloween tale.

"Boys and girls of every age

Wouldn't you like to see something strange?

Come with us and you will see

This, our town of Halloween."
