Is Fat Joe Capping or Truth-telling?
The rapper opens up about two strange stories.
Fresh off of controversial statements concerning Latinx and Latin@ involvement in the origins of hip hop, rapper Fat Joe recounted some tales. Boy, did he have stories to tell. Are they factual, though?
In an interview with “Iron” Mike Tyson on his podcast Hot Boxin with Mike Tyson, The “Lean Back” hip hop artist told about how Tyson sought the affection of label mate and “sister” Remy Ma.
He detailed how Tyson offered Remy a brand new 500 Benz to stay the night with her. Joe adamantly came to her defense and said that Tyson could not engage in any kind of physical acts with the one time heavyweight champion of the world.
Is any of this true, though? What is the veracity of Joe’s words? The one thing that is for sure, Tyson didn’t deny any of the allegations. He seemed to be relaxed, even jovial as Joe imparted the stories also to Angie Martinez.
For all of his storytelling abilities, there’s no way to confirm what actually happened. It’s all hearsay. There’s no circumstantial evidence to prove what Joe said.
While Tyson laughed and clapped at Joe’s yarn, it seems there’s some shred of reality based on Joe’s fables. If Remy Ma had been the target of Tyson’s sexcapades, then that bit of information may be true.
Rappers have been known to paint vivid pictures with their art. Away from the recording studio to lay down some tracks, rappers also get to telling. Joe is just one of many who has spilled his guts like a Swisher Sweet.
Once the camera and the microphone centered on him, he felt compelled to offer his bit of storytelling, prompted by Tyson, no less. With all the data on the table, who is right? Does Fat Joe have a point in describing this story in explicit detail? How can one completely know he is speaking facts? Though thoroughly entertaining, does Fat Joe have any credibility in reference to saying these stories?
In a completely different tale, Fat Joe outlines a moment when he ran in the street after a few tokes from some premium marijuana. A young woman had provoked him to partake in a bit of weed smoking but it soon turned into a bad trip. Strangely, in the former story, Joe mentions that Mike Tyson was in the nude upon answering his door after the invitation. In the weed smoking tale, he said he ran down the street naked as well. Is Joe trying to tell us something? Is he suggesting in both stories that a naked man has to appear in what he recalls?
The stories mixed together seem laughable on the surface, but with further inspection, the ways that both of them represent outlandish behavior and potential instances that could lead to mental evaluation.
They might be insights into Fat Joe’s mental makeup. If he is going to publicly air all of these different stories, then it’s time to pay closer attention to the genre of hip hop.
For the “All the Way Up” rapper to divulge all of this information, he supposedly knew what could happen once he opened his mouth. Filled with color and humor, Joe flowed without rhyming. He continued down the path to enlighten Angie and remind Tyson of his bizarre interactions with the ex-boxer and a female in the Bronx.
With all of the stories who could have shown, he picked these two with every hint of clarity and excellent pacing. Joe may have a podcast of his own in the works. To investigate whether these stories are true would be special. The rapper and the boxer could keep on telling on themselves.
