From an interview with an artist: "It was one of those songs that just fell out of my brain. I have this complicated relationship with all things celestial, especially during the night. I was talking about my weird relationship with the night sky with a friend one day. And a stranger, who identified herself as a green witch, told me that I was cursed by moonlight. That really freaked me out. And, I guess, when I wrote this song, I was thinking about all the memories from the night that seemed so cursed."

Stephersaur is a part time musician, part time destroyer of worlds (roarrrr).

Steph's approach to songwriting is a fresh perspective. She spent years as a poet who published her pieces under a pseudoname. As her confidence grew, she began to attach her name to her work. It is that poetry that thransformed into the quirky, emotional writing style present in her songwriting today.

She had a late start in music. It was not until college that she got her first instrument, a ukulele. Though it was originally a gimmick used as an excuse not to talk to anyone at parties, she eventually fell in love with the instrument.

After college, Stephersaur worked on her journalism career. She absolutely hated that shit and was far too soft to be a breaking news and crime reporter. She eventually quit her job, got rid of her stuff, adopted a hound dog and moved into a 1995 Dodge van.

Stephanie currently travels North America playing on street corners and at open mics. She records her music amongst the pine trees or with the rhythm with the ocean. Her influences are Phoebe Bridgers, Ben Howard, Bon Iver, Maggie Rogers, Brandi Carlile and Rainbow Kitten Surprise.

Lyrics:

Coffee break half after five

I know it’s gonna keep me up all night

you know I never can fall asleep

I am always haunted by caffeine dreams

I have no imagination

my dreams are always the same situation

I am in a corner store trying to choose between

a skittles and a Hershey's cookies and cream

and I am running out of time to choose

because there are a bunch of zombies running loose

and I guess that makes me a snack

eating a snack

and maybe that is a little funny

But I just want to wake up

bring me back

to a time

where I could sleep

where I could think

where I could dream

and it would all be about better things

Coffee break half after five

I know it’s gonna keep me up all night

you know I can never fall asleep

I am always haunted by caffeine dreams

Looking for an excuse

to stay up all night

please don’t let me fall asleep tonight

I’m feeling blue

I’m feeling you

I’ve got a bit of an attitude

the sooner we wake up

the sooner you go

the sooner we wake up the sooner you go

Don’t think that I don't know

Even when you’re here, I wake up alone

as long as I’m awake you're here

as long as I’m awake you’ll stay

as long as I’m awake you will never sneak away

stay awake

stay awake

I’m tired of the night time

slipping away

stay awake

stay awake

I’m tired of making the

same mistake

Coffee break half after five

I know it’s gonna keep me up all night

you know I can never fall asleep

I am always haunted by caffeine dreams
