By VAGRANT MEDIA LLCPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Straight from the creators, Footnotes is a series that gives you the inside scoop on new films, visuals, music, and other creative content.

In this episode, we sit down with Australian director Zachary Dov Wiesel and musical artist Rodney Chrome to discuss the planning and shooting of Chrome’s new music videos, “PULPIT” and “5 Starz”. The dynamic duo provide us with firsthand accounts about the importance of trust on set, and how the two came to build such a strong relationship. Chrome and Wiesel share key factors in building that relationship, including the ways in which Chrome has transformed throughout his career and the way Wiesel uses his knowledge to help demonstrate those changes. We were also privy to Chrome’s lyrical process as he speaks candidly about the significance of his lyrics and the love he has for his audience. In the same light, Wiesel speaks openly about the value of collaboration and ingenuity on small-budget sets.

Currently stalled by industry halts, the two remain enthusiastic about moving forward as a creative team.

Featured artists:

Rodney Chrome: Arkansas-born and currently New York-based, musical artist Rodney Chrome knows no boundaries. His genre-defying work seamlessly crosses between R&B, rap, and electronic funk, fusing and bending the styles to uniquely express his own voice as a queer, Southern person of color. With influences like Nicki Minaj, Frank Ocean, and James Fauntleroy, Chrome makes music fueled by the desire to create something that makes you move and makes you think. He pays homage to the past but is sure to showcase the sound of the future.

Zachary Dov Wiesel: Australian born and New York City-based director Zachary Dov Wiesel is proving himself to be a creative powerhouse. Making headlines in the music video world, he has directed videos for Jeida Woods, YAW, and Rodney Chrome – some of which have been featured on premiere platforms like MTV, ABC1, and Fault Magazine. Throughout his work, his adaptability reigns supreme as he’s able to mirror each artist’s style without losing his savvy for shaping the fundamentals of visual language.
