Emmett Jerome Honors the Golden Era with New Single “Write To Me”
A rollicking roots-driven track that captures blues tradition, raw storytelling, and the timeless ache for connection

With a voice steeped in truth and a heart wired for raw expression, Western Canadian artist Emmett Jerome returns with “Write To Me,” a rollicking, rootsy slice of storytelling that pays homage to the golden era of 60’s Southern Rock and Blues. At once a personal plea and a celebration of tradition, the track unfolds as a long-awaited letter to an emotionally distant lover, carried by the warmth and grit of instrumentation true to the era that inspired it.
At the heart of “Write To Me” lies the Hammond organ, a hallmark of Southern Rock, brought vividly to life by one of Canada’s finest players, Darryl Havers. The instrument anchors the track with soulful depth, weaving seamlessly with electric guitars, bass, and percussion to build a sound that is both authentic and electrifying.
Drawing influence from The Allman Brothers, Jimi Hendrix, and BB King, Jerome intentionally rooted the song in the traditions that first sparked his love of music. “I grew up listening to this genre, and those artists were paramount in developing my love for music,” says Jerome. “I wanted to write a very blues-oriented story and keep it true to that era.”
For Jerome, this track is more than homage—it’s a continuation of a lineage. His delivery recalls the golden age without feeling trapped by it, creating something reverent but alive, breathing and contemporary. The spirit of “Write To Me” is not just about looking back but about building a bridge between past and present, between timeless influences and modern experience.
The writing process was as spontaneous as the sound is timeless. Written on piano, Jerome quickly discovered the chorus before bringing it to the band the very same day. “Everything came together at once,” he recalls. “I grabbed my notebook and slipped out of the room. I wrote the lyrics crouched in the hallway, scribbling as fast as I could, hoping to capture the moment before it slipped away.” This urgency and immediacy carry through in the final recording, which radiates an energy only possible when a song feels destined to exist.
Recorded live off the floor to tape, “Write To Me” embraces the organic interplay between musicians. The choice was intentional: to strip away layers of modern studio polish in favor of raw, unrepeatable moments of collaboration. Electric guitars were captured simultaneously, with Jerome and guitarist Scott Smith positioned face-to-face, reacting in real time to each other’s riffs and fills.
“I wanted to challenge myself to not only be inspired by 60’s music but to use the same technological boundaries,” says Jerome. “I believe these limitations lead to a more inspired performance and a deeper connection with the listener.” This philosophy underscores the track’s commitment to honesty—not just in its lyrics, but in its very DNA as a piece of recorded music.
The single artwork and live performance video further immerse listeners in Jerome’s world, where tradition and storytelling remain central. Beyond the sonic experience, “Write To Me” arrives with the kind of sincerity that feels increasingly rare in contemporary music: a song that prioritizes connection above perfection.
For Jerome, the release feels like both a new beginning and a return to his musical home. “‘Write To Me’ makes me feel like I’m revisiting my roots and expressing a raw, natural side of my music,” he says. “I hope the listener enjoys the honesty and connects with the heart of its stripped-down, rootsy style.”
That sense of rootedness has defined Jerome’s career so far. As one of the most exciting young musicians to emerge from Western Canada, he has built his reputation on authenticity, delivering performances that reveal both grit and vulnerability. His world-weary voice—wise beyond his years—carries the resonance of a bluesman and the soul of a troubadour.
Jerome’s path has taken him coast to coast, chasing songs, gathering stories, and carving a place for himself within a tradition of truth-telling artists. Rooted in the old-school troubadour spirit, his work reflects a blend of tradition and modernity that speaks to audiences across generations. His 2024 debut album Rocky Mountain Son (Light Organ Records) introduced him as a solo artist to watch. With “Write To Me,” he builds on that foundation, leaning deeper into the sound that first called him to music.
At its core, “Write To Me” is a song about longing—not just for a letter or a lover, but for connection itself. It is also about honoring musical lineage, using the timeless tools of blues and rock to articulate emotions that remain as resonant today as they were in the 1960s. By stripping away artifice and recording in the spirit of his influences, Emmett Jerome has created a piece that feels both nostalgic and urgently alive.
With its rollicking energy, heartfelt lyrics, and reverence for tradition, “Write To Me” establishes itself as a landmark moment in Jerome’s blossoming career: a love letter to music, to connection, and to the stories that only a song can tell.
