Born in Toronto to North Vietnamese war refugees, DANGER SPOON, whose real name is Kalli Lang, faced considerable adversity from a young age. Growing up in poverty, they experienced immense personal loss when their father passed away suddenly at age 19, leaving them without the closure they longed for. Two years later, Lang was hospitalized with lupus and kidney failure, confronting their own mortality and the fragility of life. Thanks to life-saving medical treatment, they survived, but their day-to-day existence continues to be shaped by the unpredictability of chronic illness, medication, and the complexities of healthcare.

Determined to chart their own course, DANGER SPOON made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles, bringing only their guitar, a camera, and two checked bags. It was in this vibrant city that they began to carve a name for themselves, not only as a performer but as a self-taught producer.
