Colatura’s EP ‘I Wanna Get Better’: Official Music Video starring Megan Osyen
The Pittsburgh dreamgaze band Colatura's new single "I Wanna Get Better", from their upcoming EP "If I'm Being Honest", was released on April 9th, 2025.

This catchy and upbeat, yet introspective song evokes deep-rooted feelings of nostalgia, with the rising actress Megan Osyen (an English/Welsh film actress; a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts; currently based in New York) being the channel through which the tender themes shine through. The song is ethereal, dotted with beautifully textured riffs - a rich composition.
When “I Wanna Get Better” was premiered in April at Colatura's concert at the indie venue Baby’s All Right NYC, the video played on a large screen behind them. Fans on social media shared their profound enthusiasm for the depicted story, projecting that the video is going to "blow up” for its artistic style, and shouting it out as a must-see YouTube recommendation. The video has already accumulated tens of thousands of views well in advance of the full EP’s release in August.
An ode to the lead singer Jennica Best’s adolescent self, the video explores the idea of longing to grow up, and how this hope diminishes with age - the grass is always greener on the other side. Best is pictured roaming the area that she grew up in, expressing regret packaged in a mature stoicism. Next to her in every scene, Megan Osyen’s raw performance oscillates from hiding in the shadows of Best's former life; sitting pensively on the iconic streets of New York City, and energetically performing on a school stage (a school actually attended by Best in her younger years). With the unfettered creativity of youth, the camera seamlessly transitions from Best fronting the band and playing the lead guitar to Osyen, resulting in a visually engaging image of contrasts. In turn, Best addresses her with the lyrics "Wish that I could tell you how you’ll feel, that life you dream of never appears”. This acts as an apology for letting her down, a warning of the weary struggles that adulthood has in store. The close-ups between Best and Osyen are particularly striking, highlighted by outfits reflecting their prospective generations.
Out of hundreds of actors, Megan Osyen jumped out at Colatura; who then personally invited her to a meeting to cast her to star as the schoolgirl version of Jennica Best. Osyen’s proclivity towards accepting roles with apparent layers and complexities in character caught the band’s attention, namely her leading role “Lottie” in Bella Rieth’s stunningly unnerving 2025 short film “Lottie”, and “Emma” in the rising director Yu Tokunaga’s 2025 short film “La Vida Loca”. Osyen also scored a role in Gandja Monteiro’s thought-provoking 2024 short film “The Trial”, which garnered attention from countless media outlets. “Lottie” is currently being judged for potential awards in major international and national film festivals.
The “I Wanna Get Better” music video, directed by the band’s own bassist Devan Davies, demands a high level of nuance in its delivery, a signature in what we can see of Megan Osyen’s prior performances. Davies’ use of close-up shots draws the viewers’ attention to her craft, as she masterfully brings the song's themes to life through her eyes and micro-expressions. Osyen's body language, ability to convey a haunting story without the help of dialogue, and the unique package of youth and emotional intelligence she offers, commands attention - she is worth looking out for in the future.
You can watch the video for “I Wanna Get Better” in all its glory, projected behind the band on stage at their upcoming concerts in Akron and Cleveland, Ohio, on June 6th and 7th 2025, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 13th 2025.
