Beyond the Turntables: The Evolution of Andre "Elektro" Morales
How a Passion for Vinyl and Innovation Drives One DJ's Global Impact and Connection to his roots

Growing up in Frankfurt, Germany, Andre was immersed in music from an early age. With both parents being DJs, he was introduced to electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Kurtis Blow, laying the foundation for his passion. His father’s performances in local club on Crete sparked Andre’s own interest in turntablism, leading him to begin DJing at just 13 years old. Even today, Andre prefers vinyl, honoring the roots of the genre while embracing the possibilities of modern digital technology.
In 1993, Andre moved to Tampa, where he was practicing under his father's guidance. Few years later he became a fixture in the local scene, working at Painted Puppy record store learning from Florida breakbeat legend Rick West, with additional mentorship from B-Nice of Funklab and Adam Grow of Ohverclock and CHP Recordings Ltd. By the age of 18, Andre was performing alongside legends such as Rick West, DJ Icey, DJ Fixx, RFresh, and DJ Magic Mike.
Andre’s commitment to innovation led him to establish ElektroGlobal, a platform where he curates and showcases diverse electro, breakbeat, and experimental sounds. His mixes, including the Global Sessions with Andre Morales, blend past influences with futuristic beats. His work has been recognized through key milestones, like a guest mix for Annie Nightingale on BBC Radio 1, 77Deuce Records & Entertainment, CHP Recordings, and Tracklistings.Throughout his career, Andre has stayed true to his roots while pushing boundaries, creating music experiences that resonate emotionally and physically with audiences. His journey is a testament to the power of passion, mentorship, and the love of music.
Today, I would like you to get know Andre a bit more.
Creative Projects & Turntablism
In 2012, Andre co-founded Krime Fyter with his longtime friends Cedrac and Abed Pompa—a project designed to fuse hip-hop with electronic music, showcasing his adaptability and deep appreciation for rhythm-driven genres. While proficient with cutting-edge DJ technology, Andre remains committed to the roots of turntablism, a discipline he has practiced since childhood. His performances strike a powerful balance between technical skill and emotional connection, whether in an intimate club or on a festival stage.

Broadcasting & Digital Streaming
Andre’s influence extends beyond the stage and into the world of digital broadcasting. In 2001, long before livestreaming became mainstream, he launched his first audio stream using a DSL connection and AOL Instant Messenger—a pioneering move that allowed him to share music directly from his home to a global audience.
By 2012, he introduced Elektro South Radio on UStream under the moniker DrDroidDre, curating weekly sets and growing a consistent listenership. This venture led to a pivotal connection with Nate R. Lemu of TheLostArt.com, a respected platform in the online DJ community. Andre quickly became a core part of TheLostArt family, considering it a defining chapter in his broadcasting journey.
Elektro South Radio evolved into a Wednesday night staple, featuring guest appearances from notable DJs like Mike Skillz, AV-02 Tampa’s original resident. In parallel, Andre also embraced Facebook Live as a performance outlet, drawing inspiration from the legendary Mark V—one of Florida Breakbeat’s most influential figures.
As Andre puts it: “This journey has never been about following trends—it’s always been about connection, creativity, and pushing boundaries in how music is experienced and shared.”
Global Reach and Future Performances
One of the most exciting aspects of Andre's career is his ability to connect with a global audience. Through his Soundcloud presence, he has expanded his reach far beyond the local scene, making his mixes accessible to fans worldwide. With a growing listener base, Andre’s mixes provide a platform for sharing his artistic vision with people who appreciate both the nostalgia of vinyl and the forward-thinking energy of modern beats.
Looking ahead, Andre is eager to perform on the European stage, particularly in Frankfurt and Crete—two locations that are deeply personal to his journey. Frankfurt, where it all began, holds a special place in his heart, as it shaped his early musical influences. And Crete, where his passion for DJing was truly ignited by watching his father perform, represents a pivotal moment in his growth as an artist. Returning to these cities to perform would be a full-circle moment, allowing him to reconnect with his roots and share his music with the audiences that first inspired him.
