Beats, Breakthroughs & Building a Legacy
How StillMixingBeats turned late nights and laptop sessions into a growing empire.

Since stepping onto the scene in 2022, music producer, DJ, and artist StillMixingBeats (SMB) has been carving out a lane all his own. What started as a passion project in a Discord server has evolved into a full-fledged movement—marked by innovative sounds, emotional storytelling, and a refusal to stick to just one genre. His discography is anything but predictable, and that’s exactly the point.
In 2024 alone, SMB dropped two projects and two singles under his independent label, Hi-Tek Records, proving that his work ethic is as relentless as his creativity. With a sound that constantly evolves and a vision that reaches far beyond trends, SMB is positioning himself as a true trailblazer in the modern music scene.
As 2025 unfolds, he shows no signs of slowing down. Whether it's a surprise collab or a late-night beat session turned viral hit—one thing’s for sure: StillMixingBeats is just getting started.
You started your music journey in 2022—what inspired you to become a producer, DJ, and artist all in one?
I started making beats in my room back in 2022. At the time, I was working with a small group of people I met through a Discord server dedicated to NAV. It was a cool space where we could share our screens and showcase the music we were creating.
Seeing all these guys producing music straight from their laptops and computers really inspired me—I knew right away I wanted to be part of that world. I already had some gear lying around, so I figured it was the perfect time to put it to good use.
Plus, I had some experience making beats from studying music production in school. Back then, I was using Logic, but these days, FL Studio is my main go-to.
Your latest track "Stargazing" has such a unique pop sound. What was the creative process behind that release?
That track is packed with emotion—I made it during a tough time in my life when everything felt chaotic. I was dealing with relationship issues and trying to piece my life together. So I sat down and started layering some ambient pads, added a few guitar riffs, and built it up with a simple drum pattern.
I grabbed some vocals from vocaify.com to tie it all together. Honestly, all the tools are out there—it’s just up to you to make the most of them.
In 2024 alone, you've already dropped two projects and two singles under your label, Hi-Tek Records. What drives your work ethic and consistency?
Working a 9-to-5 just isn’t for me. Doing the same thing day in and day out—it gets boring, and honestly, kind of scary. It feels like time slips away while you’re stuck in a loop, clocking in and out just to earn a small paycheck every month.
That’s why, when I get home from work, I make it a point to create at least one solid beat a day and check it off my list. There’s a saying I live by: “You might be one beat away from your next big hit.” That mindset keeps me going.
Your discography is anything but predictable. How do you keep innovating and surprising your audience with every release?
Even when I’m away from the studio, I’m always listening to music—whether I’m walking, hitting the gym, or driving somewhere, I’ve always got my headphones on. I’m constantly tuning in to catch new sounds, unique drum patterns, and ideas I can take inspiration from and flip into my own style.
Being a multi-genre producer, how do you decide what direction to take when working on a new track or project?
Most of the time, I just go with the flow—I don’t force anything, because when I do, it never comes out right, I promise you that. Like I mentioned before, I usually listen to some music beforehand to get inspired and figure out what kind of instrumental I want to create. That way, I can keep things fresh and surprise my clients with something unexpected.
Hi-Tek Records has been your launchpad—what does owning your independent label mean to you as an artist?
Having my own label now means I don’t have to stress about anyone taking a big cut from my releases. There’s no need for big contracts or strict time limits—I can drop music on my own terms, whenever it feels right. I’ve also just launched my own merch line—hoodies are out now, and you should definitely check them out. That’s my next big move, and I’m putting a lot of energy into it.
"Stargazing" leans into pop, but you’ve worked across multiple genres. Do you have a favorite genre to produce, or does it depend on your mood?
I’ve got a nonstop love for house music. One track that’s always stuck in my head is "Show Me Love" by Robin S—it’s a classic. But yeah, what I listen to really depends on my mood and how I’m feeling in the moment.
Do you have a favorite track or moment from your catalog that you're particularly proud of? What makes it stand out for you?
Stargazing is one of my absolute favorites. The lyrics really reflect what I’ve been through, so it hits close to home. I actually made that track pretty quickly, and it came together so well—I handled the mixing and mastering myself, all within a week. I’m really proud of how it turned out.
What song do fans seem to favor?
House is definitely number one for me right now. If you take a look, Leave Me Lonely is sitting at 3.4k streams and still counting, and I’m beyond stoked about it. I think the track’s success comes from how catchy and danceable it is—people just can’t help but vibe to it.
It’s also been getting a lot of play in local clubs, which has definitely helped push it further. The feedback’s been amazing, and it’s only getting started. I’m super grateful for the support and can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Can you tell us about a moment when you really felt like you were breaking new ground in the studio?
Being in the studio can be tough, especially when you’re working with multiple artists. You’ve got to quickly understand what they want because creativity doesn’t always wait around. My job is to be ready to hit that record button at any moment and to make sure I’ve got a solid grasp on their vision, whether it’s vocal chains or mixing, so everything comes together perfectly.
What’s been the most challenging part of building your brand as StillMixingBeats since 2022?
The most challenging part of building my brand as StillMixingBeats since 2022 has definitely been getting started and wondering if it would actually take off. In the beginning, my IG handle was all over the place, and the way I showcased beats was outdated—just screen recording, which really doesn’t grab attention. With how short people’s attention spans are, I quickly realized that adding visuals to my beats was crucial to engage the audience.
Another big challenge was finding the right people to collaborate with. Some producers don’t want to see others succeed, and that made it tough at times. There was even a moment where I posted that I was done making beats and deactivated my IG.
But I came back stronger, and landing a placement with Quennthemelody for his album Closure in 2022 was a turning point. That release really helped me push forward and truly began my StillMixingBeats journey.
What is your favorite/best outlet to connect with your followers Instagram, Spotify, FB, Twitter, iTunes? How would you want them to follow?
Instagram is the best way to reach me for anything, as I’m always active and open to negotiating beat prices if you're interested. You can find me on multiple platforms like Spotify, IG, Twitter, and my Linktree. My Linktree has all my socials in one place, making it super easy to connect with me.
What new moves or projects can fans expect from SMB and Hi-Tek Records?"
I’m always pushing myself to create more music, breaking new boundaries along the way. But I’ve got something really exciting coming up—a huge feature with a well-known Punjabi artist towards the end of the year.
Trust me, you’ll want to stay tuned for this one; let’s just say the clubs are going to be dancing to it.
If you could give one piece of advice to up-and-coming producers trying to find their sound, what would it be?
Just keep working, experimenting with new sounds, and don’t be afraid to try new things. Always stay humble, and make an effort to reach out to local clubs and bars—networking is key. I’ve met a lot of great people online who helped me find my sound and pushed me out of my comfort zone. If I can do it, so can you.
