ARK IDENTITY revisits his past on Self-Reflective Indie/Alt-Pop EP, ANNDALE
feat. Atmospheric and Melodic Focus Track, “I’m Done Living”

Toronto singer-songwriter Noah Mroueh, known artistically as ARK IDENTITY, is set to release his debut EP, ANNDALE, on November 8th. The collection, produced by Philippe Andre, delves deep into the artist’s introspective journey, blending bass-driven indie pop with layers of shimmering rock and psychedelia. For Mroueh, ANNDALE serves as a sonic memoir, a reflection on the past, and a creative stepping stone for the future.
Mroueh describes ANNDALE as a nostalgic project rooted in his upbringing. He explains: “This EP is a look back to where my musical journey began—my childhood home and neighborhood. It’s a way of closing a chapter. Putting these songs out gives me the freedom to move forward to new sonic landscapes.” Named after Annandale Road, the street he grew up on in Toronto, the EP captures a sense of place and time, evoking the feeling of coming full circle. Mroueh wrote every song on the EP in the basement of his childhood home, imbuing the project with an authentic connection to his roots.
Across its tracks, ANNDALE showcases a range of sounds and influences, highlighting Mroueh’s versatility and exploration as an artist. He leans into shimmering indie rock on “Screens,” using bright, catchy riffs that evoke a sense of yearning. The track is layered with dreamy guitar tones and a driving beat, pulling listeners into a nostalgic soundscape reminiscent of early-2000s indie rock. Meanwhile, on “Eyes,” Mroueh delves into psychedelic guitar effects, creating a lush, immersive listening experience. The song's swirling melodies and experimental production reflect his willingness to push the boundaries of traditional indie pop, venturing into the boundless realms of psychedelia.
The EP also features the acoustic-led “Atmosphere,” a standout track showcasing Mroueh’s skill in narrative songwriting. Here, he strips back the production, letting his storytelling and emotive vocals take center stage. The song's lyrics delve into themes of memory and introspection, offering listeners a glimpse into Mroueh’s personal experiences and the emotions tied to his past. Through these varied tracks, ANNDALE paints a comprehensive picture of Mroueh’s artistic journey, providing a window into his past while hinting at new directions for his future work.
The emotional core of ANNDALE comes through in “I’m Done Living,” the EP’s final track and emotional anchor. The song features a chilling vocal performance by Mroueh, characterized by its raw vulnerability and haunting delivery. It’s a declaration of self-renewal, a powerful anthem about shedding an old version of oneself to embrace change. Mroueh elaborates: “We are all constantly evolving, becoming new versions of ourselves. Each of us has an inner child and a past self. This song is about saying goodbye to that part of you and declaring, ‘I’m done living that way,’ to move on to the next stage.”
With its anthemic chorus and deeply resonant lyrics, “I’m Done Living” is likely to be a highlight at live shows, where it could inspire audiences to raise their lighters or cellphones in a shared moment of catharsis. The track encapsulates the essence of ANNDALE—a project rooted in self-reflection, growth, and the search for a sense of closure.
ARK IDENTITY, as the solo project of Noah Mroueh, is an exploration of dream pop infused with rich, expansive soundscapes. Mroueh’s work as a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has been praised for its “addictively good” melodies, which weave through layers of psychedelia and immersive production. With ANNDALE, he introduces a personal yet universally relatable narrative, inviting listeners into a space of reflection and discovery. The EP marks a significant milestone in Mroueh’s career, offering a glimpse into both his past and his future as he continues to carve out his unique place in the indie music scene.
