Toronto indie pop singer-songwriter and producer ARK IDENTITY returns with “Can’t Stop Loving You,” a soul-baring, atmospheric single that captures the ache of a love that lingers long after it has ended. The track is the latest offering from the artist’s forthcoming EP Deluxe Nightmare, out October 24th, and it stands as one of the most personal songs Noah Mroueh—who creates under the name ARK IDENTITY—has released to date.

Drifting between dreamy textures and vulnerable lyricism, “Can’t Stop Loving You” leans into the still-burning embers of a past connection. For Noah, the artist behind ARK IDENTITY, the song represents an unfiltered snapshot of emotional memory. “This song captures the bittersweet ache of a love that just won't fade,” Noah shares. “It's a raw, honest look at the lingering feelings after a breakup, the kind where you're trying to move on but your heart keeps pulling you back.”

True to ARK IDENTITY’s fully hands-on approach, Noah produced the track entirely himself—handling drums, guitar, bass, and keyboards. Every detail, from the hazy atmosphere to the aching vocal performance, reflects his singular vision for the project.

Musically, the single pulls from dream pop’s gauzy soundscapes and indie pop’s immediacy, with a nostalgic nod to the past. Lush synths stretch across sparse percussion, while Noah’s voice—soft, pained, and achingly honest—sits at the center. The result is a soundscape that feels like solitude made audible: the quiet reflection of late-night drives, or the hollow stillness after a memory resurfaces unexpectedly.

That atmosphere also translates to the visual world of ARK IDENTITY. The music video for “Can’t Stop Loving You” opens with a surreal twist: a vintage TV host from the early ’80s introduces Noah and his live band, as though we’re tuning into a retro broadcast. From there, the viewer is drawn into a dreamy realm of soft-focus visuals and gentle psychedelia. The blurred textures mirror the song’s themes of memory and longing, pulling listeners deeper into ARK IDENTITY’s universe of faded love and unresolved emotions.

“This song is incredibly personal for me. It's about that universal feeling of trying to move on from someone you deeply cared about, but realizing a part of you just can't let go,” Noah explains. “That 'crack in the pavement' moment, where something small triggers a flood of memories—I think everyone can relate to that.”

Lyrically, the track lingers in the space where reason and feeling clash. Lines like “Can't stop thinking of things I'd do / I'll run away inside my mind / Going nowhere” embody that tug-of-war: the logical part that knows it’s time to move on, and the emotional pull that keeps returning to what was lost. As Noah puts it: “I wanted to capture the internal struggle of knowing you should probably forget someone, but your heart just isn't on the same page.”

The writing process itself became a form of therapy. “Writing this track was a way for me to process those lingering emotions—the hope for a conversation that never happened, and the eventual acceptance that some connections, even if they're not meant to be, leave an indelible mark,” Noah says. “It’s a raw confession that sometimes, you just can’t stop loving someone.”

ARK IDENTITY is the dream pop project of Noah Mroueh, an artist steadily carving out his place within Canada’s indie landscape. EARMILK has already hailed him as “one of the most exciting new artists to enter our attention in 2024,” praising his ability to fuse “shimmering melodies with introspective lyrics.”

Noah introduced the world to ARK IDENTITY with ANNDALE, his debut EP released in November 2024 and named after the street he grew up on. Written in his childhood home, its five tracks—including breakout single “Eyes,” which landed on Apple Music’s New in Alternative playlist—signaled the arrival of an artist with both vulnerability and vision. The project’s success led to a distribution deal with ADA, the distribution arm of Warner Music Canada.

Now, with Deluxe Nightmare, Noah expands the world he began building on ANNDALE. The new six-track EP is a sequel and continuation, broadening his all-analog dream-pop sound into new territory. Moving seamlessly between sunny indie rock, vintage psychedelic pop, silky R&B, and moody electronic textures, the collection shows an artist unafraid of crossing borders to tell his story.

“Can’t Stop Loving You” is its emotional core: a haunting reminder that love doesn’t always obey reason, and that sometimes the most meaningful songs come from the places we wish we could leave behind. With Deluxe Nightmare arriving this fall, ARK IDENTITY is poised to cement his place as one of Toronto’s most promising and versatile young voices—an artist turning heartbreak into beauty, one dreamlike track at a time.
