Album Review: Justin Bieber — “Changes”
Rate it from 1-10

Well, it is finally here. This Valentine’s Day Weekend had a widestring if projects being released like A Boogie’s Artist 2.0, Migos new song “GNF,” and YG & Kehlani’s diet “Konclusions.” After 5 long years of last studio album in 2015, Purpose, Justin Bieber drops his anticipated fifth studio album, Changes.
The anticipation for this album was crazy. Bieber teased on social media for fans to like if he should drop an album before 2019 ended. He then announced a new single “Yummy” on Christmas Day 2019 to be released in January. Bieber dropped the lead single “Yummy” in January and also announced a upcoming tour for this album.
Bieber has not been lowkey in the public eye while not dropping his own music in between the past 5 years. He was featured on many singles in many genres like Post Malone’s “Deja Vu,” Ed Sheehan’s “ I Don’t Care,” and Two DJ Khaled songs like “I’m The One,” alongside Chance The Rapper, Quavo & Lil Wayne in 2017, and “No Brainer” the following year. He also dove into EDM by being on singles like Major Lazer’s “Cold Water,” David Guetta’s “2U,” and BloodPop’s “Friends.” He was also featured on the remix of the Spanish song “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee, which became #1 song on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks. He also has been recently engaged and married model Hailey Baldwin in late 2019.
This was the one release I was really waiting for because I believe Justin is a great artist and singer. Justin is coming off in a new mature, forward direction from his previous album. According to his YouTube Original Documentary Series, Justin Bieber: Seasons , his whole album is inspired by his wife and how he looks at life in a different perspective from it.
I had the chance to listen to it and can honestly say, it has exceeded half my expectations of it. This album has Bieber’s vocals on another level. He really shows his singing talent on songs like “All Around Me,” “Available,” “Get Me” featuring Kehlani, and “At Least For Now.” The lyric content of each songs is what helps really excel his vocals, which shows his maturity and more grown up type of songs he makes now, from when he did on Purpose. Most of the writing on this album was done by good friend and frequent collaborator, Poo Bear. Another thing that was great was the production on some songs like “Forever” featuring Post Malone, ”Intentions,” and “Come Around Me.”The only thing that disappointing me from this was the delivery. Most of the songs are enjoyable, but them to really hit home and be remembered as classics and hits did not have the full package. He does a great job overall of conveying he is in a better place, he has grown up with the material he has put out in the past.
The features I think were very well chosen and okay. The album features Quavo, Post Malone, Kehlani, Travis Scott & Lil Dicky. The best one in my opinion was with Post Malone called “Forever.” Justin & Post have always shown a great chemistry in music ever since their 2016 duet, “Deja Vu.” The song also featured a new artist named Clever, who suprised me as a good feature.
Overall, the project I would give a Solid 7 out of 10, with a grade of a B. The best song on the album is “Forever” or “Come Around Me.” The worst song on the album is probably “Yummy.” It was a really solid album, but could have expected a little more from Justin, even better promotion. “Yummy” and “Intentions” should have not been the lead singles off this albums, as their were better songs that could have some commercial success. Other than that, hru cannot wait time see what other projects he gives in the future.
