Today I wish to impart my wisdom as a very cheap and frugal witch upon all of you.  As a struggling 20-something, you can find quite the finds in the dollar store for anything; my personal favorite was snagging picture frames for scrying. But enough about that; let's dive into the list.

Well, duh, I'm going to list most of these products. Aside from some electronics, the products are under 5 dollars, and candles and lighters are no exception. Some of the candles do have pictures of Christian saints, but it's very simple to grab the paper from the picture frame and print another deity on them. Lighters are around almost every aisle, so there is no surprise to that. Sometimes they have matches, but for safety I will always recommend a lighter.

Now you're wondering why I placed this here. Well, in the dishware section they do have "glasses" for drinking, but just like picture frames, you can still buy maybe spray paint and paint them black with white chalk with your preferred language, whether you're Celtic and Druidic like me or Norse or etc. For the Vases and bowls, you can use either of these on your altars, money jars, and incense holders or for other fragrances to hold in.

Now for most Dollar Trees, as we know, they have fragrant pods made from soap and other fragrances. Some are more elusive in name and smell but are perfect not just for rituals and altars, but they are pungent when you do burn or use them. Spices like cloves and peppermint are among some of the spices you can get from both spices and sometimes pods. I do put this here, but sometimes it's difficult to find burnable incense, but I do recommend that you may want to look for when Lent, Easter, or Christmas happens to find them.

Now this needs to take some creative liberties for sure since most "clothes" I recommend are plastic and not actual cloth. So as much as I hate it too, you can make do with the party section with the plastic tablecloths. 

Now this needs more explanation. Picture frames, as you know, normally are used for cementing moments in our hearts about something in the past or remembering someone who has passed, and taking a last-minute picture will be in your heart for a long time. But you can incorporate them into not just your practice as well. You can always use your family pictures as something similar to an ofrenda or an ancestor altar. But also you can use picture frames as scrying mirrors. I will leave a couple videos at the bottom of the page but essentially. Remove the paper and mirror and spray paint or paint over the mirror or paper (or use it as a paper for a new candle). Paint over two coats of paint, then mark it with a letter of your choosing and use it for scrying. 

Now for notebooks, I always say it's easier to have your spells, recipes, and a shadow journal for your experiences you've dealt with. Also, it's great practice for writing your name in other languages to practice. I know the first time I was learning Ogham (the language Celts and Druids used before Latin), I had a hard time spelling and signing, but with practice, I got better with it. In a later article I will teach you folks the language of the Ogham to use in your practice. But for now, let's get to the last of the list.

Now obviously when I say "Sabbats" or "holidays," at a predominantly "Christian" store you're going to say, "We don't celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and Thanksgiving." Correct, we don't; however, we do celebrate Ostara, Lupercalia, Yule, and Mabon. When we celebrate the holidays of Christians, you get to know about understanding that we as pagans came before the ways of Christians, and although we call it Saint Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and Thanksgiving, know that Ostara was once celebrated, but as we were told long ago, Saint Patrick drove the "snakes" out of Ireland. Those snakes were Druids, Celts, and a slew of other people, but not Catholics.

They still celebrate or take elements from Irish and Gaelic folklore, and we still can "cherry-pick." So when looking for good Sabbath decor, know the four-leaf clover was once ours, and instead of Patrick, swap the Saint Patrick out with Brigid, and the Midwinter Goddess with Dagda, and many more.
