“Freedom” is one of those words that buzzes with layered meaning. It’s fireworks and flags. It’s long exhales, doors swung open. It’s rebellion, relief, release, and sometimes, the quietest kind of power.

When used as a poetry prompt, freedom doesn’t have to be big or bold. It doesn’t have to be about countries or laws or parades. It can be personal, private. It can be the moment you stopped apologizing for taking up space, the morning you chose joy over guilt, or the time you walked away from something, or someone, you outgrew. 

One More Thing - Freedom in poetry doesn’t have to be revolutionary (but it absolutely can be). Sometimes it’s as simple as writing what you want to say, how you want to say it. Without apology. Without permission.
