Villainess Review: Carol Kinahan (Ring of Deceit)
I learned about this film a few years back, and I had watched it a few times (bit-by-bit) before actually watching the film in its entirety. Ring of Deceit centered on Madison Byrne, a museum art expert who is quickly shown at a presentation for the museum's latest acquisition: the Ring of Sophia. While Madison builds up a conversation (among, possibly, other things) with art patron Jack Singer, the presentation is led by the museum's curator, Carol Kinahan, who later discusses the ring with Madison and Jack--the latter claiming that the ring was owned by his family.

2023 Conference Finals Preview
I always enjoy the Final Four of any sport's season, because it's the last stop before the whole enchilada is decided. No matter what the sport, that final round before the championship is immensely grand. In the NFL, it's the Conference Championship. In MLB, it's the League Championship Series, and in the NBA and NHL, it's the Conference Finals. The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs are now down to the Final Four, with the two berths in this year's Stanley Cup Final being officially decided. Since the 2013-14 season, the Conference Finals have been contested between each of the four winners of the division brackets, with the East series pitting the Atlantic vs the Metropolitan, while the West series pits the Central vs the Pacific. The series are as follows:

XFL Championship Recap: The Underdog Story is Complete
As I said in past stories about the XFL, my memories about the original XFL are decreasing. I do remember the championship, which was known as "The Million Dollar Game," and it was the Los Angeles Xtreme who won and emerged as the best team in the league. Of course, that XFL is no more, but even so, the Xtreme's championship remains part of that history. No champion was crowned in the XFL's return in 2020 due to the incoming pandemic cancelling the rest of the season, but regarding the 2023 season, we would get a full campaign, followed by an actual champion being crowned.

Skeletons in the Closet. Top Story - May 2023.
It was a stunning ordeal for Celine Anderson; her good night's sleep was suddenly interrupted by various sounds coming from inside the house. Celine rose out of her bed to inspect, and her brief investigation resulted in the young woman being assaulted by a sinister hooded culprit. The scuffle, fortunately for Celine, didn't last long, as the culprit got away once the sound of the home's owner, Sebastian French, rushing downstairs, armed with a baseball bat.

Grading the Seattle Kraken's 1st Postseason
The second season of existence for the Seattle Kraken is definitely one they will remember for years to come. The Kraken became the NHL's 32nd franchise, joining the league four years after the Vegas Golden Knights, and because Vegas went all the way to the Stanley Cup Final in Year One, a lot of fans expected something close to that for the Kraken. Seattle was nowhere close to that level in their inaugural season, but their sophomore year saw some big time signings, and a huge turnaround.

Reviewing the 8th Season Finale of "How We Ruined Connor McDavid's Career"
For nine years, CBS had How I Met Your Mother. Hulu currently has the sequel/spinoff series, How I Met Your Father. The NHL has topped that with a sitcom of their own, as the Edmonton Oilers are giving us the NHL's longest running sideshow: How We Ruined Connor McDavid's Career. And the eighth season finale took place on the evening of May 14, 2023 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Villainess Review: Bridget (Mighty Med)
Happy Mother's Day, all! This day--rather, this weekend, is designated to celebrate mothers. After all, they gave birth to us, they give us tender loving care, they nurture us, and they give us wonderful sage advice. However, none of that applies to the mother who is the subject of this review. I learned about Mighty Med several years ago; I knew it was one of Disney's many live-action superhero shows, but I wouldn't learn about the show's connection to Lab Rats until I finally binge-watched the show on Disney+. I had my central reason for checking out this show, which only lasted two seasons, and here it is.

What Went Wrong: High Payroll, Low Goal Count
The optimist in me wants to say, "Well...at least they won a series." I was, and still am, very happy for the Toronto Maple Leafs for getting a 19-year-old monkey off their backs. They won a series. They ousted the Tampa Bay Lightning, a team who had made three straight appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, in just six games. Everyone figured that we would get Leafs vs Bruins in Round 2. A funny thing happened: the Bruins somehow lost to the Florida Panthers. So not only do the Leafs avoid the Bruins, they get to face the NHL equivalent of a #16 seed in March Madness.

Villainess Review: Tracey (The Pregnancy Promise)
Whenever a Lifetime film involves pregnancy, and especially has that word in the title, expect a villainess to appear. It's like clockwork. Pregnancy, babies, motherhood in Lifetime films? Hotbed for villainesses. The latest example comes in the form of The Pregnancy Promise, which centers on best friends Lucy and Skye. Their friendship is a close one, and Lucy enjoys spending time at Skye's home, with one side reason being that she's involved with Skye's brother, Aaron. As we would quickly learn, there's another reason: the environment at the Simmons household is a breath of fresh air compared to her own house.

What Went Wrong: Devils' Elite Eight Loss Ends a Dream Season
Many thought that the first team to receive a second round exit this season would be the Toronto Maple Leafs, but they ended up breaking the brooms in their elimination game. Could the New Jersey Devils do the same? They definitely had the chance to escape the proverbial axe. They were up 2-1 late in the second period, but Brent Burns tied the game at the period's final minute. A quite third period led to overtime being forced for the first time in this series, but a Delay of Game penalty resulted in the Carolina Hurricanes going on the power play, which cashed in when Jesperi Kotkaniemi's shot went past Akira Schmid.

Villainess Review: Audrey San Fernando (Day Shift)
Recently, I finally had the time to watch one of Netflix's original films, Day Shift, which came out last summer. I was all in when I first heard about it; another vampire horror-comedy film, this time starring Jamie Foxx and featuring Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg? Yeah, definite recommendation. The film centers on Bud Jablonski, who is introduced as a pool boy, but that's actually a cover for his actual profession: vampire hunter extraordinare. Bud knocks off a pair of vamps, one of them an elderly lady, but that's the tip of the iceberg.

Should Xia Li Go Back to NXT?
I am a huge fan of Xia Li--an absolutely huge fan. She's been one of my favorites ever since she made her WWE debut via the Mae Young Classic (which they still need to bring back). I literally beamed every time Xia Li appeared on NXT. I love everything about her; her look, her moveset, her upbeat demeanor, everything she brings to any and all gimmicks she plays, all of it. Any time Xia Li's on, it's the highlight of the evening.
