The Iconic History of the Hart Memorial Trophy
For many years, I've been fascinated by the National Hockey League's individual trophies, with the main one being the immensely prestigious Hart Memorial Trophy. The Hart Trophy is awarded to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the entire NHL, the highest individual honor in the league. Regarding other leagues, the NBA and the NFL's MVP awards cover the solitary league, while Major League Baseball awards MVPs in the American and National Leagues. But regarding the NHL, there's just something about the Hart Trophy. It covers 82 games of a sport that is grueling, difficult, and stressful, but often worth the headaches.

Villainess Review: Gloria Ford (Found)
I bring some good news to start out this review: Found is being renewed!! The news broke earlier this week that NBC renewed both freshman crime drama shows--Found and The Irrational--for second seasons. I'm elated on a personal note, because I watch both shows religiously, but it's also good for diversity, because both shows have a Black lead. In the case of Found, it's Shanola Hampton leading the charge as Gabi Mosley.

Avalanche Game 22 Recap: Down in the Desert
The red-hot Colorado Avalanche, coming off a big win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, took their winning tear far west for a three game road trip. First up, a stop over in Tempe to face off against the Arizona Coyotes, a team who has been a surprising challenge for the Avs in recent years. The two teams have only been division rivals since the 2021-22 season, which saw the Coyotes moved to the Central Division to make way for the expansion Seattle Kraken's placement in to the Pacific Division. As an Avs fan, I do thank the Coyotes for allowing us to acquire Darcy Kuemper. We only had him for that season, but it resulted in a Stanley Cup.

It's That Time Again (Week 13)
Well, NFL fans, we made it! Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now we have reached the final one-third of the season, which takes the season into the pivotal month of December. This is the third year of the 18-week format, and it's the fourth year of the current playoff format that sends seven teams per conference into the postseason--four division winners (East, North, South, West) and three Wild Cards. As a result of this format, only the top seed will receive the conference's first-round bye.

There's Something Rotten in Edmonton
You know, the phrase "jumping the shark" has been thrown around for decades in the world of television. The phrase comes from that infamous episode of Happy Days where The Fonz jumps over a shark on his motorcycle--a plotline that many saw as a desperate and odd ratings ploy. Since then, anytime TV shows do something wild, crazy, and unexpected for ratings, that phrase comes up: jump the shark.

The Strike is Finally Over, but Did Anyone Really Win?
Every TV fan's long nightmare is over. The actors strike came to an end barely over a month after the writers' strike ended. We should all be happy about this, right? Well, we are, but we can't help but think of the proverbial bloodshed.

Avalanche Game 11 Recap: Chaos, Chaos, and More Chaos
Thankfully, we Colorado Avalanche fans had a lot of time to lick our wounds after the drubbing in Vegas. Two days off, followed by a return to the team's beloved Ball Arena for a three game homestand. First up, the New Jersey Devils, who are off to a good start after a season where they reached the Elite Eight. It's always nostalgic for me when the Devils and Avs get together, mainly because this was the Cup Final in 2001.

Villainess Review: Victoria Gossett (Medium)
I've said this before in past reviews: Medium really delivers in the villainess department. It's less about quantity and more about quality, as while I've seen many consecutive episode without a villainess, the ones that do have one really have some amazing ones. Season Six (the show's first on CBS after five seasons on NBC) definitely had some good ones, and that includes the episode, "Dead Meat."

NFL Week 9 Recap: Nine Months. Top Story - November 2023.
January 2, 2023. We all remember that Monday evening. The Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals faced each other in what was the final Monday night game of the season. Regarding the game and the storyline, it was two teams jockeying for position in the AFC, as they were both in position to possibly take the AFC's #1 seed. This was an important game for both teams, but before the 1st quarter ended, there was suddenly something much, much more important than the game of football.

Reviewing "Treehouse of Horror XXXIV"
As I said before in an earlier story, I love "Treehouse of Horror," the Halloween-themed episode of The Simpsons. Usually, the episode airs on the week of Halloween, with a pair of occurrences where ToH actually aired on the actual holiday. However, there have been a few times where the episode actually aired on the first Sunday of November, usually due to Fox's World Series coverage. The episode was actually moved to mid-October as a result, but this year's episode did hit the month of November.

Avalanche Game 10 Recap: Lemons
Every fan of a certain team has a list of certain games they look forward to the most. For Colorado Avalanche fans, one of them was played already--the first meeting against the Seattle Kraken. The second one, has to be...has to be the first meeting against the Vegas Golden Knights. We are talking about the last two teams to hoist the Stanley Cup; the Avs did it in 2022, and the Golden Knights did it last year. For me, I was definitely looking forward to this, because this was the Avs chance to basically tell the Knights, "Hey, you know that Cup you guys won? Yeah, we're gonna want that back."
