Avalanche Game 59 Recap: Delay of Game
The Colorado Avalanche were coming off an overtime loss in Detroit against the Red Wings, and now, the team was back at home against another Original Six franchise: the Toronto Maple Leafs. This is the second and last regular season meeting between the two clubs; the first one saw the Leafs go up 3-0 in the first period, but the Avalanche came back and won it. This game aired on NHL Network, but despite the Avs being at home, it was the hallowed Hockey Night in Canada feed. I love Hockey Night in Canada. The first time I watched a HNIC game was in 2005-06, when I had NHL Center Ice. Hockey Night in Canada is a CBC staple during the regular season, airing every Saturday during the season, followed by exclusive playoff coverage from the first puck drop in Round 1, Game 1, to the moment the Stanley Cup is awarded.

Avalanche Game 58 Recap: The Renewal
I was 10 when the Quebec Nordiques moved to Denver and became the Colorado Avalanche, and it didn't take the team long to have a big time foe in the Western Conference: the Detroit Red Wings. It came to a head in that Western Conference Final in 1996, which saw the Avs actually win in six games over a Wings team that won 62 games (an NHL record until last season). From that point on, Avalanche/Red Wings became the top rivalry in the NHL in the final nine seasons before the lockout.

Is There Still Some Hope for the Pittsburgh Penguins?
When the Pittsburgh Penguins lost Game Seven of their opening round series against the New York Rangers in 2022, I wrote in my recap that the ousting could mark the end of an era in the Steel City. The emphasis was on "could." I didn't say it would be. I didn't think it would be. I still don't, but when the following year happened, and the Penguins actually missed the playoffs, I was stunned. I mean, nothing lasts forever, but still, I didn't think that streak would end so soon. I thought they had about one more appearance left in them.

Avalanche Game 57 Recap: Best in the West
After a disastrous road trip, the Colorado Avalanche returned home for the first time in the second half, and the end result was a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Coyotes. For this home game, the opponent's just a bit tougher. It's only the Vancouver Canucks. They only have the NHL's best record. No big deal. You know, every time I watch the Avs and Nucks go at it, I always think back to the old days when these teams were division rivals; first in the old Pacific Division before being placed in the old Northwest Division. The teams have been in separate divisions since 2013, but the games are still quite good.

Villainess Review: Erin Cole (The Rookie)
It's arrived; it's finally arrived. The dust has settled, the strikes are now a thing of the past, and many, many shows are back on TV. Among the shows returning to TV is The Rookie, as tonight begins the sixth season of the hit series. I love The Rookie. I've watched since Day One. It's an amazing show that gets better and better as it progresses. It was a Tuesday show for the first season, and the next four seasons would air on Sundays in that 10PM slot. It was perfect for me, because in the first half, The Rookie served as that show that I would enjoy after an amazing day of NFL action, while the second half saw the show as a calming outlet for this fan of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Avalanche Game 56 Recap: Home at Last
They say that you could never go home again. For the Colorado Avalanche, it sure seemed that way. The Avalanche started the second half with six straight road games, and it was a disaster. Six games in the Eastern Time Zone, a maximum 12 points up for grabs, yet the Avs left with only three. 1-4-1 on that road trip, which resulted in the Avs actually being in third place in the Central Division. Finally, the Avs returned to the confines of Ball Arena for the first time since the near end of January, and in this go-around, it's a Division Rivalry battle with the Arizona Coyotes.

Avalanche Game 55 Recap: Can We Go Home Now?
And so it ends. The Colorado Avalanche's six-game road trip came to an end against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena. Ah, Amalie Arena. The very site where the Avs won the Stanley Cup in 2022. So many memories. The goals from MacKinnon and Lehkonen. Gabriel Landeskog lifting the Cup over his head, in what is his most recent act with the Avs. Absolutely epic.

Chris Farley: Comedic Icon
Amazing. Today would have been Chris Farley's 60th birthday. I had never heard that name until Black Sheep came out in 1996, but that's when I became a fan. And then more of his films came out, and he was gaining a lot of steam in his career, but sadly, it all came to a tragic end. It wasn't until after he left us that I would see more of Farley's projects and learn quite a bit about him.

A Look Back: Eddie Guerrero's Road to the WWE Championship
Twenty years. Can't believe it's been twenty years. One of the most amazing moments in WWE history happened on the evening of February 15, 2004, and it was on that night that Eddie Guerrero finally reached the top of the proverbial mountain and captured the World Wrestling Entertainment Championship. Eddie's road wasn't easy. A wrestling career that began in his late teenage years, and included stints in AAA, New Japan, and most notably (at that time) World Championship Wrestling. After five years in WCW, Eddie debuted in the then-named World Wrestling Federation promotion in 2000 as part of The Radicalz faction.

Avalanche Game 54 Recap: Dominant in DC
As John Wick would say, "I'm thinking we're back!" The Colorado Avalanche entered the fifth and penultimate game of this road trip on a bad skid. 0-3-1 in our last four games, and coming off a shutout loss in Sunrise, Florida. For this go-around, it's a trip to Our Nation's Capital to face off against the Washington Capitals, one of two teams who were on the receiving end of a Nathan MacKinnon four-goal performance this season.

Is Kyle Shanahan a Failure?
In what was, undoubtedly, the best Super Bowl ever played, the San Francisco 49ers lost, 25-22, in the final seconds of overtime to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. With that, the Niners came up brutally short of that elusive sixth Super Bowl championship yet again, and it has officially been 29 years since their last win at Super Bowl XXIX. There hasn't really been much to blame, but one person is definitely on the receiving end of the scrutiny: Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Super Bowl LVIII Recap: The Tribal Chiefs
WOW! What a game!! So the results of this year's Conference Championships left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of fans. They wanted the Baltimore Ravens and the Detroit Lions, because many figured that this was Baltimore's best chance, and they wanted that heartwarming story of the Lions reaching the Super Bowl for the first time ever. Instead, we got the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, which caused a lot of grumbling, but regardless, we were in for an interesting contest. For the Chiefs, they were looking to continue ruling as the NFL's current empire, while the Niners were looking for payback and that elusive sixth ring.
