What Will Roronoa Zoro and Sanji’s Reaction Be When Luffy Dies? – One Piece 2025!

We have all been with Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates for so long now, imagining a world of One Piece without its captain, Monkey D. Luffy, simply cannot be done. But with the year 2025 well in view, and with the One Piece story entering its final chapters, it's impossible not to think of that day when this journey of Luffy's will finally come to a close. And when that happens, the real question is: what would be the reactions of Roronoa Zoro and Sanji upon the death of Luffy? These two were by his side through thick and thin, their bond going really deep into friendship instead of just stopping at crewmates. Now, let's consider how these two would react to this unimaginable scenario.

Zoro's Loyalty: The Unbreakable Will

When I think of Zoro's reaction, the very first word to come into my mind is "unbreakable." One of the most profound sides of Zoro's character is his loyalty toward Luffy. Since the very moment he joined the crew, Zoro swore that it would be he who helps Luffy become the Pirate King. And since then, his loyalty has not wavered. He has been through innumerable battles and faced unimaginable odds, but he always put Luffy's dream ahead of his own. Now, what happens when the very person he has sworn to protect is gone?

Zoro's response would likely be a mixture of disbelief, devastation, and pure rage. I don't think Zoro would react with immediate tears if Luffy died-not because he wouldn't be heartbroken but because of his stoic nature. The pain would come in waves with Zoro, and his very first instinct would be to seek revenge. Zoro has lived his whole life for one reason: to help Luffy achieve his goal. It would feel like he lost everything by losing Luffy. But that’s when Zoro’s strength would truly shine. He would channel his grief into an unshakable resolve, just as he has done when things seemed impossible. He might even step up in ways we’ve never seen before, taking on Luffy’s legacy and continuing to protect the crew.

But one thing is for certain: Zoro would carry Luffy’s memory with him for the rest of his life. Luffy’s death wouldn’t break him—it would fuel him to continue pushing forward, just like the countless times he’s fought and nearly died for his captain. Zoro might even take on an even more prominent role in the crew, stepping into Luffy’s shoes as a leader while remaining steadfast in his own goal to become the world’s greatest swordsman.

Sanji’s Heart: The Emotional Storm

Sanji, on the other hand, would react in a completely different way. As much as Zoro’s loyalty is built on strength and honor, Sanji’s loyalty comes from the heart. Sanji has always been the emotional heart of the crew, and his bond with Luffy runs deep. Unlike Zoro, who hides his emotions behind a tough exterior, Sanji wears his heart on his sleeve. If he were to die, I can imagine that Sanji's reaction would be raw with emotion-grief, anger, even guilt.

Sanji would want to blame himself. He has always been the one to take care of everyone and make sure that they are safe. This would count as a failure on his part when Luffy dies, and his heartbreak would be palpable. He would likely lash out, perhaps even distancing himself from the crew, convinced that there was something he could’ve done to prevent it. But, as we’ve seen with Sanji, his love for Luffy and the crew would eventually drive him to continue moving forward, even if it felt impossible.

One thing’s for sure: Sanji wouldn’t just mourn Luffy’s death; he would also fight to keep his captain’s dream alive. Sanji might even redouble his determination to protect the Straw Hats and see Luffy's vision of the Pirate King live on. His reaction would be one of utter despair, but he would never let Luffy's death be in vain. He would, like Zoro, find a way to carry on, but his way back would be laden with the emotional impact of losing someone he had been so close to.

Together, Moving Forward

Zoro and Sanji would mourn in their own ways, but one thing is a certainty: neither would quit. Luffy's death would be a point of incredible pain to both, but it wouldn't be the end of the Straw Hat Pirates. Zoro and Sanji would continue to carry the torch, honoring their captain's memory by living out his dream in their own way.

Zoro's reaction would likely be more silent, stoic, and determined, fighting harder than ever to do justice to Luffy's legacy and probably emerging as a leader for his crew. Sanji, though devastated, would still guard his crewmates with the same heart and fire Luffy instilled in him. Together, they'd make Luffy's death not the end but a new beginning for the Straw Hats.

The thought is too tough to even entertain, but in case Luffy dies, then Zoro and Sanji continue his legacy with the same strength, loyalty, and love as they've shown throughout their journey. After all, it's what Luffy would want.
