10 Things To Do Alone

1. Do a Puzzle

Find a nice spot on the floor or, even better yet, a table and pick up the puzzle that you’ve been wanting to put together. Even if it takes a few weeks, it always feels amazing when you put your last piece in and have a full beautiful picture that you created. Find a larger puzzle that will take a while so that you can fill up those times alone easily.

2. Watch a Movie

With streaming services taking over the globe and so many movies out there. A great thing to do by yourself is to watch a movie. It will be different than watching a movie with your friends or family, but being alone will allow you to really pay attention to the movie and find things that you may not have been able to in a group. Try this. If it’s a good movie, you will forget that you are alone quickly.

3. Clean the house

Have nothing to do? May as well make the place you live better. Cleaning has some surprising health benefits, such as reducing stress, supporting a healthy immune system, and may help you sleep if you clean your bedroom! Have nothing to do? Cleaning may be what you can do. Just put on some music or a favorite podcast and start on a section of you house you live in the most or a place that gets neglected a lot in your weekly schedule.

4. Work on your hobby

A hobby of mine since middle school has been playing the guitar. I am no virtuoso, but it is a fun thing that I like to do from time to time. Finding a hobby that you truly love may take some time, but once you do, you will have something you enjoy doing every time you are alone.

5. Catch up on some rest

There is nothing wrong with catching up on some sleep if you are alone. According to the CDC, Americans do not get enough sleep. Have some time alone, maybe a good idea is to just get into bed, shut your eyes and catch up on some sleep. Wake up refreshed and ready to do something after.

6. Read a book

Reading a book is a great way to spend some time alone. Reading has benefits such as increasing focus and concentration, improving sleep, and reducing stress. Great books that I have enjoyed recently are the Port Chicago 50 and Horse Soldiers. Both are right up my alley about history and are written very well. Find a genre that you can get into and start reading!

7. Play video games

There are some great video games. If you are alone, maybe try and play one of them. This is a more expensive option as you will need a gaming system. I personally have a PS4 and a game that you will enjoy playing. You can play single player, or can play online as long as you have a subscription to whatever online service your gaming system has.

8. Start a side hustle

A side hustle is a great way to get some extra cash for yourself. I personally like side hustles because I like to do things and go places on my summer vacations and side hustles are a great way to save up. I have a couple that I do. One is that I drive for Doordash and the 2nd is that I have started this blog. Other side hustles can be more specific to your skill set or region. Maybe use your time alone to think about what you can do to make some more money.

9. Do some online shopping

Bored and don’t want to go outside? The power of the internet is here to help you. Go online and do some shopping. You don’t even have to buy anything, just see what extraordinary things you can buy to get a taste of how the other half lives.

10. Cook a new meal

What is better than a good meal that you cooked and can be proud of? One thing that you can do is find a recipe online that you are interested in and try to cook it at home. If it is good, you have something to show off to your other half and your friends. You also have something in your cooking repertoire which you can cook again and again.
