Archewell Productions, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s media company, has extended its creative partnership with Netflix. There was a mention of As ever, Meghan’s lifestyle brand in partnership with Netflix but missing was any details of what the terms of that specific aspect of the As Ever partnership is. Here is why it matters.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, said:

"More recently, fans have been inspired by With Love, Meghan, with products from the new As ever line consistently selling out in record time. "

I am not the only person who is curious to know the dynamics and specifics of the As Ever and Netflix partnership. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle was asked about the nature of that specific partnership during her recent Aspire podcast interview with Skims and Good American co-founder Emma Grede.

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan's response was very interesting. It is a constant "dance", in her own words. Emma Grede who probably knows one or two things about startup companies and female founders was very intrigued.

Why it matters?

Is Netflix really involved in As Ever Wine? There is a bigger story to be told regarding that separate legal entity which did not get a mention today.

Apparent separate legal entity

As Ever Wine (the "Winery") is actually where there is what seems to be a bigger success story for the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's As Ever startup company's balance sheet. It is not always about the sell outs but what you sell and how much of it. For comparison, Khloe Kardashian and Emma Grede's Good American as a startup fashion company when it launched apparently made about $1 million in sales as reported. As Ever Wine (the "Winery) is within that bracket in terms of startup company launch sales in less than an hour without the headaches of a fashion business in terms of inventory.

With Love, Meghan is a piece that fits in the narrative and storytelling for the Duchess of Sussex Meghan's ambition to build a Heritage lifestyle brand.

Take a seat. You will be served.

The Duchess of Sussex Meghan was also very careful to stress to Emma Grede that her content partnership with Netflix should not be confused with her lifestyle brand As Ever. They are not the same thing, in her own words.

Yes, you are wondering as I am. There is no As Ever Napa Valley Rosé in that picture despite the fact that there are a few wine scenes in the series.

That magic is certainly being recreated if you follow @aseverofficial Instagram stories. And there are those who can not wait for the second season of With Love, Meghan.
