Two Minds

It's a work-in-progress

Two different minds but only a window to see through it all

“Good afternoon Mr. Barkim”, a man says in what seems to be a lab coat. Now it’s your turn Theo. “Good afternoon Dr. [______]”. Theo, what did I say about hiding information from me... Ah, Dr. Tori, thank you Theo. “So Mr. Barkim, I know we haven’t met in a while, but how have things been since the incident?” He’s just trying to get money from you, just lie and get it over with. “Things have been... fine.” There there, that was easy, right? “No...” “I’m sorry Mr. Barkim, what was that?” Theo you idiot, why would you say that out loud. “Mr. Barkim, just to wrap this up, I’d like to ask one more question.” Trying to pry? It’s pointless if you want information, but just to be safe. “What is it?” No Don, please... I don’t want this again... “More talkative I see, well on to my question. I know you said everything is fine, but has anything changed in terms of emotion? Anything, for example, falling asleep in one area, then somewhere else in a different place?” Please Don, let me back in… “Mmm, not really. If that’s the end of it, could I go now?” …Good, you’re done pouting? “Oh, well sorry for the worry Mr. Barkim, I hope you have a wonderful day.” “You too Dr. Tori.”

After the therapy talk, Theo walks down the hall with his stomach growling. Theo, we both understand that if you die, I die? “Yes I know…” Well, you have money and you see a vending machine. Get. Something. “Fine…” With his stomach twisted in a knot and a vending machine right there, he’ll hopefully get something. So... what are you gonna get? “Oreo…” You must be joking right? Get Chips Ahoy. “What, no.” Damn it Theo, just get the damn Chips Ahoy. “I don’t want Chips Ahoy, I want Oreos” With all the words coming in like a storm, clashing in onto one another, the body of Theo struggles and turns a knot. He clasps his head to stop it from splitting apart like a chopping woodblock. All this fighting, like an axe, ready to chop his mind. He tries and tries to hold the screaming that he feels inside. Theo, get the Chips Ahoy. “No, I’m getting the Oreos” Can you not be a baby for just a second. “How about you just shut up and let me do what I want”. Without a second thought, His body reacts on its own, smashing his fist into the vending machine. With a bloody fist, Theo grabs both Chips Ahoy and the Oreos. "Let's just go home..."

At home with nothing but his dusty old furniture and a TV that needs to be paid off soon, Theo does nothing... Like every other day. Sooo, you're gonna clean that up right? "Yeah..."...…. Do you know how or do you need help or something? "I know what I'm doing, I just need to disinfect it then wrap it." Oh you're so right oh mighty one, now how exactly are you gonna do said things when you have an empty bottle of rubbing alcohol and no wraps? "Let me just wash then we'll head to the store.." Theo quickly washed up his hand, wrapped it with a shirt and head out for the store. They head to the nearest store, grabbed the cheapest wraps and rubbing alcohol, tried not to make weird eye contact with the cashier, "Uh, are you good there bro?" "Yeah, just 'cut' myself cooking.." The cashier didn't buy none of that "Right.. well that'll be 8.47 sir." Theo gets things over with, heads back home and prepares for an excruciating amount of pain. You know how to do it right? "Yeah, just don't distract me right now" And with one pour of the rubbing alcohol, you hear an ear piercing shriek come from Theo's bathroom. The look on his face shows clearly that he's ready to pass out from the pain. More and more screaming comes from the bathroom and seconds later a load thud. Complete silence.
