See what happens if you put food coloring in the toilet.

Cleaning your apartment can be a hassle, but with the right cleaning advice, it becomes a lot simpler. If gum has become attached to your sofa, clothes, or carpet, you can use ice cubes to remove it. Pet hair and lint can be easily removed from your sofa by using rubber gloves. After finishing your morning cup of coffee, avoid throwing the grounds in the trash. They are ideal for cleaning pots and pans without scratching them since they serve as soft abrasives.

Living alone is fun until you have guests over and have no one to share the cleaning duties with. That's when knowing useful hacks comes in handy, and I have plenty of them for you. Let's start with the living room, shall we? But before you start, I recommend you make a cleaning playlist. Singing your heart out and dancing to the beat of the music in between sweeping the floors will definitely make the chores go faster.

First things first, I'm sure you have at least one or two dirty mugs lying around—come on, don't be ashamed, we're all guilty of that—so start by putting those away and anything else that doesn't belong in the living room because doing so will give you a clear space to work with. After you've decluttered the space, it's time to vacuum the floors, but what about the nooks and crannies of the room? Sure, from your vacuum cleaner, you can squeeze a paper towel roll onto the end of the hose of most vacuum cleaners, and then you can reshape the other end to fit any number of spaces, such as window tracks, sliding door tracks, and chair rail moldings.

So next time, don't just throw those into the recycling bin immediately. The floors and the carpets are finally dust free but while you're at it, how about we get rid of all the furniture dents on the carpet and bring them back to their glory? Just cleaning is not enough. You know we need to make the place look Pinterest worthy too. Anyway, to do that, you don't need to buy any carpet cleaning tools. Instead, what you need are ice cubes. Depending on the size of the furniture footprint, place a few of them there and leave them to melt overnight.

You'll see that in the morning, it's most likely that there will be no sign left of them. But if you're still able to recognize the dent, try fluffing the carpet with the help of a fork or a credit card. However, before using this trick, make sure your carpet and the material it's made of can handle a few small puddles of water; you wouldn't want to ruin things altogether. Ice cubes can also be used to remove gum that has become attached to furniture or clothing.

When the gum feels frozen, place one or two ice cubes on top of it and wait until it does. Then, take a butter knife and carefully peel the gum away without leaving any sticky residue behind.

The next tip is for those who own pets; if so, you can use rubber gloves to remove pet hair and lint from your sofa. There are two ways to do this while wearing latex gloves; either rub your hands all over the upholstery or dampen them and run your hand over the surface of the sofa. Now that you know this, you can let your dog jump on the sofa at will. Let's go to the kitchen.

Mesh net produce bags are another item you might use for the same reason. When the dishes are finished, it's time to clean the sink itself, and I have just the thing to make that so much easier for you. This electric cleaning brush from Amazon is all about efficiency. It includes four interchangeable heads that will make not only the sink but the entire kitchen shiny and new. You can make your own scrubber by simply tying a few of them together. Kiss goodbye to those germs and old sponges—just don't literally, because that would be gross.

It stands out from other electric brushes because it has a pulse function for areas with stubborn dirt or grind, so your arms won't need to feel sore after the cleaning is done and the kitchen looks perfect now. The small flat head is perfect for getting rid of hard water stains inside and around the sink, the large one is great for stovetop elements, and you can reach the internal corners of the microwave with the cone-shaped one. This hack is not for making things worse enough; therefore, you might want the water to be extremely hot but not boiling since that could fracture the toilet bowl. Since you're already taking care of the toilet, why not check to see if it's not leaking?

A silent, slow leak will cause enormous amounts of water to escape your home each day. Pour at least half a cup of dish soap into the toilet bowl and let it sit for a while. The final step is to carefully pour a gallon of hot water into the toilet bowl and wait around 15 minutes for the magic to work. While cleaning the surfaces, a sponge brush will help you keep your hands squeaky clean. Your dirty laundry bag caught my attention, especially the t-shirt on top of that mountain of dirty clothes that has some grease stains on it. Its ergonomic and non-slip handle will give you a secure and comfortable feeling when gripping, and the best part is that the brush is washable and reusable, so it's good for your wallet as well.

The ultra absorbent chalk powder will help you remove any oil splatter as well as lipstick marks, but make sure to use plain old white Blackboard Chuck instead of the ones that contain any wax or color. Those are known to be some of the toughest to remove, but I have just one hack for you: try pre-treating the stain with chalk before washing it. You know weightlifters, stars, and gymnasts use chalk powder to keep their sweaty hands dry? It works on the same principle.

Place one to two cups of rice and 10 to 20 drops of essential oils in the jar. Shake the jar to disperse the oils equally after covering the top of it with a fabric that breathes and fastening it with a rubber band. Your homemade stink trap is ready, and depending on how much moisture is in the closet or other tiny space you place it in, it should work for at least four to six months.
