The issue has returned to the fore. A dispute over the legacy of a Saudi millionaire who died 14 days after his marriage to a Syrian woman
The issue of a Syrian woman's right to the inheritance of her deceased Saudi millionaire husband has come to the fore again, after she obtained a previous ruling proving her secret marriage to him, and stopping the ruling issued in her favor a year ago.

And the Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia ordered that the case be returned to the Personal Status Court in Jeddah to consider her claim to prove her marriage to a late businessman and her entry into the deed of limiting the heirs.
This comes after activating the objection by way of cassation before the Supreme Court last year against judgments and decisions issued or supported by the Courts of Appeal, after the Ministry of Justice announced the development of electronic services related to the Supreme Court’s Court of Cassation in order to achieve a complete digital transformation of the Court of Cassation.
"Okaz" newspaper said, quoting sources, that the incident dates back to about 10 years, when a businessman died and left a large fortune and a number of sons and daughters, and the Syrian plaintiff (in her twenties) surprised by filing a lawsuit before the General Court in Jeddah, in which she claimed that she was Misyar's wife. In secret to the late, she presented her defenses before the court, including witnesses and a copy of the marriage contract signed by the late. She also submitted successive notes with the sons and daughters of the deceased before the Court of Appeal and obtained a ruling supporting the validity of her marriage contract and including it in the deed of limiting the heirs.
Subsequently, the Supreme Court decided to stop the ruling and return it to the Personal Status Court to consider the case in a legal manner and to take the necessary legal measures.
Informed sources described the case of the millionaire plaintiff as controversial, as it occupied public opinion and social media platforms since it was circulated, especially since the case relates to the inheritance of the Syrian resident in Jeddah after the death of the Saudi businessman.
The issue has returned to the fore. A dispute over the legacy of a Saudi millionaire who died 14 days after his marriage to a Syrian woman
The information obtained by "Okaz" indicates that the wife initially demanded 300,000 riyals from the late's wealth, before retracting and granting the court the right to inherit in a ruling that gained finality from the Court of Appeal and was finally suspended by the Supreme Court to review a number of procedures regarding the case.
The wife's case was witnessed by the Jeddah court with the heirs of the late businessman to obtain her share of the inheritance, after she married, according to her claim, to the businessman for two weeks, then he died of a "heart attack" in his home in Jeddah.
The Syrian widow obtained a judgment in absentia at the beginning, proving her marriage to the deceased, before counting his movable and immovable properties, and the heirs decided to object to the judgment after it was issued in absentia and submitted their defenses before the Court of Appeal, which upheld the judgment before the Supreme Court finally decided to stop the procedures and return to square one again. Referral of the case to the Personal Status Court by virtue of jurisdiction.
According to the last judgment deed, the number of heirs reached 10 boys and girls, in addition to his Saudi wife.
The estate of the deceased includes a variety of properties, including lands, buildings, hotels, commercial markets, stocks and bank balances.
The Syrian resident had come to the Kingdom to meet the family of a businessman for the friendship that binds them, and after a while the businessman decided to marry her during his visit to Syria, according to what the plaintiff wife mentioned in the case file, but the marriage did not last long, as the businessman left. Life, leaving a large fortune of many properties and real estate in the Kingdom.
The heirs refused to grant her her right, so she asked for 300,000 riyals only to waive a case she filed, but they refused, so she resorted to the courts and eventually obtained a ruling to add her to the heirs, to get 80 million riyals instead of the 300,000, which is the ruling that was returned to zero point.
It was stated in the court’s reasoning that his younger brother witnessed his marriage, which he did not officially document, in addition to the testimony of one of his friends, and the marriage ceremony took place in secret before he suffered a heart attack, as a result of which he died.
According to the judgment deed, the family, sons and daughters of the late businessman insisted on their refusal to recognize their father’s marriage to the Syrian girl, challenged the validity of the document and the witnesses, and adhered to the invalidity of the contract even if it was proven due to the absence of its correct elements, in addition to their adherence to the fact that the plaintiff wife did not provide the legal evidence to prove her marriage, while monitoring Notes on the evidence she presented, accusing her of defrauding the court.
