Al-Nasr said, “At NEOM, we are solving some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity by bringing together a community of the brightest minds. NEOM is open for business. Neom- The name is a combination of the Greek word NEO (new) and M - the Arabic word mustaqbal (future) and the first letter of the name of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

MBS had announced in 2017

Spread over 26,500 square kilometers on the Red Sea coast (an area larger than Kuwait or Israel), this ground-breaking megacity project was announced in October 2017 by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) at the Future Investment Initiative conference in Riyadh. It is one of the fundamental components of Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision which aims to transform the Saudi economy.

Cities will have their own tax and labor laws

MBS said NEOM would operate independently of the 'existing government structure' and have its own tax and labor laws and an 'autonomous judicial system'. NEOM includes smart towns and cities, port and enterprise zones, research centres, tourism, sports centers as well as several entertainment venues.

All the energy of the city will come from sun and wind

It is noteworthy that all energy in NEOM will come 100 percent from renewable energy sources - sun and wind - and will also have hydrogen-based power generation - all ensuring a zero-emission, carbon-positive ecosystem.

Another feature of this city is that the brine produced from desalination will not be thrown back into the sea, as is the case in existing desalination plants, but will be used as an industrial raw material.

Even more important will be water production from desalination produced entirely from renewable energy sources, as well as innovative methods of water storage and use.

Food self sufficient city

One of NEOM's most ambitious plans is the 'world's most food self-sufficient city' using vertical farming and greenhouses; have to become Let us tell you that Saudi Arabia currently imports about 80 percent of its food.

All the facilities related to daily life like school, hospital and mall will be there. All the necessary things will be at just 5 minutes walking distance. High speed trains will run on the third and lowest floor. It will take only 20 minutes to reach from one corner of the 170 km long city to the other. This megacity will run with artificial intelligence. According to the plan, the drone taxi here will run in the air. There will be parks like the amusement park shown in the Jurassic Park movie and there will be a big artificial moon.

8 As tall as Qutub Minar

So far we have seen that the spread of the city is horizontal whereas the spread of this city is going to be vertical instead of horizontal. That is, from bottom to top. Whose height will be 500 meters. If you understand it in simple words, the height of Qutub Minar is 73 meters, that means the city will be built in the height of about 8 Qutub Minar on top of one.

The height of the Eiffel Tower is 350, which means that this city will be higher than the Eiffel Tower. There will be accommodation for 90 lakh people in this city. The outer walls of this 'The Line' city, built in a straight line of 200 meters width, will be mirror faced.

The target is to make by 2030

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had announced this project in 2017 and had set a target of making 'The Line' project by 2030. According to estimates, it will cost $ 500 billion to build this city. This city will be built on par with the European country Belgium. The area of this city is 30,528 sq km. In other words, this city will be about 33 times bigger than New York.
