Scared of frogs

This is why I am scared of frogs

By gAmBiPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

Once upon a time, in a quaint little village called Willowbrook, there lived a young girl named Lily. Lily was a curious and adventurous child, always eager to explore the wonders of the natural world that surrounded her.

However, there was one creature that sent shivers down her spine and made her heart race with fear - frogs. The sight of their slimy bodies and their big bulging eyes made her anxious beyond measure. Lily couldn't understand why her friends found frogs fascinating when all she saw were creatures that appeared ready to pounce at any moment.

This fear stemmed from a memorable incident that had occurred when Lily was just a toddler. She had innocently wandered into the lush green woods behind her house, chasing a butterfly that had caught her attention. As she followed the fluttering movements through the thick undergrowth, she stumbled upon a muddy pond teeming with frogs.

To her horror, the frogs hopped and scurried away from Lily, startled by her sudden intrusion. In her desperate attempt to escape, one of the frightened frogs accidentally leapt onto her tiny foot, its cold, clammy skin causing her to shriek in terror. Her parents, hearing her cries, rushed to her aid and gently removed the frog from her foot, but the incident had left a lifelong impression on Lily.

As she grew older, Lily's fear of frogs intensified. Every time she saw one, her heart would race, and she would feel a rush of anxiety coursing through her body. This fear became a barrier that prevented her from fully embracing the wonders of nature that lay just outside her doorstep.

One bright summer day, a traveling circus arrived in Willowbrook. The villagers were ecstatic at the prospect of experiencing thrilling entertainment and indulging in cotton candy and popcorn. The circus was known for its extravagant performances and exotic animals, capable of transforming an ordinary day into a magical one.

Intrigued by the circus, Lily decided to gather her courage and venture into the big top tent. As she wandered through the bustling crowd, mesmerized by the vibrant atmosphere, she stumbled upon a peculiar booth at the far end. It was labeled "The Fear Extinguisher: Conquer Your Greatest Phobias."

With trepidation, Lily approached the booth and met a wise old woman who seemed to possess an air of mysterious knowledge. The woman spoke softly, her voice soothing and calming. She asked Lily about her deepest fear, and Lily hesitantly admitted, "Frogs."

With a gentle smile, the woman beckoned Lily to sit in front of a mesmerizing crystal ball. She produced a small glass jar filled with enchanted, glittering dust. The old woman sprinkled a pinch of the dust onto Lily's hands and advised her to face her fear directly – to embrace the frogs and understand their true nature.

Lily took a deep breath and heeded the words of the wise woman. She ventured out into the surrounding woods, where she knew frogs could often be found near a tranquil pond. Approaching the water's edge, she saw frogs hop playfully, their delicate croaks resonating through the air.

Summoning all her courage, Lily kneeled down beside the pond, the enchanted dust still glistening on her palms. She slowly reached out to touch a frog, her hands shaking with anticipation. As her fingers grazed its smooth, moist skin, she realized that the frog's presence did not trigger the sense of danger she had always associated with them. Rather, there was a quiet beauty in their vibrant colors and rhythmic motions.

Embracing the moment, Lily began to observe the frogs closely. She listened to their gentle croaking, a symphony of nature's harmony. She marveled at their ability to leap gracefully and blend seamlessly with their surroundings. For the first time in her life, Lily felt a sense of peace and acceptance towards these creatures that had haunted her dreams for so long.

From that day forward, Lily's fear of frogs slowly began to dissipate. She discovered a newfound fascination and respect for their place in the delicate balance of nature. Her experience at the circus had taught her an invaluable lesson – that by facing her fears, she could overcome them and uncover a hidden world of wonder.

As Lily returned home that evening, the setting sun casting a warm glow over the village, she couldn't help but smile. A burden had been lifted from her heart, replaced with a sense of awe and appreciation for the diversity of life that surrounded her. From that day forward, she vowed to embrace the unknown, ready to embark on new adventures without the weight of fear holding her back.

And so, Lily's fear of frogs became but a distant memory, reminding her of the strength she possessed to conquer her deepest anxieties. From then on, she would forever cherish the frogs that once terrified her, realizing that even the smallest creatures could hold profound beauty and meaning.
