You might have heard things about these types of companies such as; mishandling the belongings of clients or charging their clients more than what they have promised through their hidden costs or extra services.

Once you hire them, you will be stuck in the middle of the moving process. You will have no choice other than to let them move your stuff. Cheap services also can include a rogue moving crew, who does not know how to handle fragile or delicate items. Instead of moving precious belongings, they might even break or damage them with their careless way of handling them. 

So, it is better to avoid getting stuck with cheap packers and movers. If you find that a certain company sounds way more expensive, then this could be a red flag right there that something fishy is going on. 

Look for a Better Deal, not the Cheapest One

It is a fact that moving companies are costly. There can be certain services that can be bargained. On the other hand, there can be movers and packers who have fixed prices for their services. 

If you find a certain company that seems expensive but genuine and they are ready to bargain, then negotiate a better price. 

So, hire an able company for a price where both of the parties can concur with the best deal. But always avoid services that seem cheaper or more expensive than they should. 

No License or Insurance Policy

It is more than important that you choose packers and movers who have valid licenses or insurance policies. If you hire an irresponsible moving crew that has no documents or insurance in place, you are risking the chances of not getting insurance for your damaged or lost goods by movers. 

Find if the moving company is legitimate or not by asking them if they have license or any insurance policy in place if your belongings gets damaged or lost during the shifting process.

Trustworthy movers and packers always have an insurance policy. They will safely and securely shift your belongings. If by chance they damage your fragile or delicate items, appliances, or any other item, they will be solely responsible for covering those damages. 

Beware of Movers Demanding Upfront Fees in Advance

When you hire movers and packers, they can require some kind of deposit amount to schedule the moving on a particular date. It is common for moving companies to ask for a booking amount. However, if they demand upfront fees in advance. This can be a red flag right there that they may be fraudsters. 

Ask the movers what kind of amount they are going to charge you for booking the service. You should ask different movers for their booking amount and compare what kind of charges they would offer. 

Don’t choose a moving company that demands upfront fees in advance, instead choose a company whose booking amount seems reasonable.

Bill of Lading 

Don’t ever hire a moving company that does not give you a bill of lading or any other receipt. The bill of lading or shipping receipt is the acknowledgment of relocation of your removals. 

This bill or receipt is required by law to be given to a client before all the relocation work is finished. Moving companies usually give a copy of this receipt to their clients before the moving process even begins.
