Meet Andrew Avramidis, Expert in Home Improvement
All you need to know about home improvement

Walking into Andrew Avramidis's latest renovation project, I'm immediately struck by the seamless blend of modern functionality and classic charm. Natural light streams through strategically placed windows, illuminating a kitchen that could make professional chefs jealous. But what caught my attention was Andrew himself – sleeves rolled up, tape measure in hand, explaining to his crew the precise angles needed for the custom built-in cabinetry they were installing.
With over 15 years of experience transforming homes across the Greater Boston area, Andrew has earned a reputation as the go-to expert for homeowners seeking more than just a fundamental renovation. "I don't just fix houses," he tells me, wiping sawdust from his hands. "I help people reimagine what their home could be."
Growing up in a family of contractors, Andrew learned construction basics before he could drive. His father, a master carpenter from Greece, taught him that craftsmanship isn't just about following blueprints – it's about understanding how people live in their spaces. "Dad would always say, 'Anyone can build a wall, but not everyone can build a home,'" Andrew recalls with a smile.
After earning his degree in architectural design from Boston University, Andrew spent several years working for large construction firms. But something was missing. "I felt disconnected from the heart of the work," he explains. "I wanted to work directly with homeowners to help them bring their visions to life." In 2008, he leaped and founded Avramidis Home Solutions.
What sets Andrew apart isn't just his technical expertise – it's his ability to see potential where others see problems. Take the 1890s Victorian he's currently renovating. When the owners first approached him, other contractors had advised them to tear down the entire back section. Instead, Andrew planned to preserve the home's historic features while creating a modern living space that works for a 21st-century family.
"The biggest mistake people make is thinking they have to choose between character and functionality," he explains, showing me through a bathroom where the original clawfoot tub sits perfectly alongside sleek, water-efficient fixtures. "With the right approach, you can have both."
His philosophy extends beyond aesthetics. Andrew is a passionate advocate for sustainable building practices and energy efficiency. Every project incorporates eco-friendly materials and smart home technology where possible. "It's about building for the future while respecting the past," he says.
However, what truly makes Andrew unique is his relationship with clients. Rather than rushing from project to project, he takes on only a few renovations at a time, ensuring each receives his full attention. He's known for his detailed initial consultations, where he spends hours understanding what clients want and how they live.
"I had one couple who loved entertaining but felt cramped in their kitchen," he remembers. "Instead of updating appliances, we reconfigured the first floor to create a flow between cooking and living spaces. Now they host dinner parties every weekend."
His attention to detail has earned him satisfied clients and industry recognition. Last year, Avramidis Home Solutions won the Regional Contractor of the Year award for their innovative renovation of a historic Cambridge property. However, Andrew seems more proud of the thank-you cards displayed in his office than any official accolade.
Looking ahead, Andrew sees both challenges and opportunities in the changing home improvement landscape. "With new materials and technologies emerging constantly, we must stay on our toes," he admits.
As we wrap up our conversation, a client calls about a possible project. Andrew's face lights up as he discusses their ideas, already envisioning the possibilities. It's clear that for him, home improvement isn't just a job – it's a calling.
For homeowners lucky enough to work with him, Andrew Avramidis isn't just a contractor. He's a partner in turning their house into the home they've always dreamed of. And in a world of quick fixes and cookie-cutter renovations, that makes him truly special.
