How to Make Money Online a YouTube Channel

What makes you think that you can’t make money online in South Africa? Have you even tried to start a YouTube channel? If the answer to either of these questions is no, then it’s time to reconsider. Making money on YouTube is possible, but it does take some effort to get started and grow your audience over time. These tips will help you get started on how to make money online without investment in South Africa with a YouTube channel.

Why Start a YouTube Channel?

It’s no secret that YouTube has become a major force in entertainment and advertising online. We love watching viral clips and listening to our favorite YouTubers for hours on end. Businesses are also getting on board, working with popular YouTubers as brand ambassadors or using YouTube ads to sell their products or services. Start a YouTube channel now, if you haven’t already, and you could use it to make money from your videos.

Finding Your Niche

Your online video channel doesn’t have to be all business, all work. If you choose, you can also create videos that are more personal and fun—informative videos about your hobbies or interests. You don’t need a large audience for these types of videos; they’re often enough just for friends and family. The key is to use your channel as an opportunity to find your niche and establish yourself as an expert within it. For example, you could share advice on social media marketing for bloggers, share free content about how to start building a website from scratch (you know—no tutorial posts!), or tell people what style clothes you like.

Do Some Research on Similar Channels

There are many how-to videos on YouTube about making money online. Some of them do make good points, but most of them don’t give you any legitimate advice. To be successful on YouTube, create original content and talk about topics that interest your audience. The best way to see what works is by doing some research on similar channels already out there. You can search for keywords related to your niche and look at what other creators are up to. Focus on channels that have high levels of engagement and watch videos where they talk about monetization strategies.

Get Your Setup

Your setup is everything. If you want to make money online, you need a good computer, reliable internet connection and audio/video recording equipment. In addition, you’ll need other tools like scheduling software (Google Calendar is my favorite), video editing software (I use iMovie) and social media management tools (Hootsuite and Sprout Social are both excellent). Beyond that, pay attention to details—your lighting, sound quality and wardrobe will have an impact on your success. I’ve also found that writing scripts helps keep me focused. The more time you spend planning your videos, writing scripts and working on production value, the better your results will be.

Create Great Content

You can make money in South Africa online using a YouTube channel. Start by figuring out what you want to talk about, how often you’ll post, and who your audience is. Your aim is to create great content that appeals directly to your target audience—not what you think they might like. Keep it brief: people are more likely to watch short videos than longer ones, so shoot for five minutes or less. Use good quality equipment and avoid flashy effects (they distract from your message). Once you get going, study successful YouTube channels; read up on best practices and what makes others successful. All of these factors will help you understand how to make money online without investment!

Engage With Viewers

The content you create must be relevant and meaningful. The more engaging your videos are, the more likely you’ll get subscribers. If your content isn’t engaging, viewers won’t stick around for long. And without subscribers and views, it will be impossible to make money from YouTube. It can take time before you start generating income from your YouTube channel if you have little-to-no experience using online video as an advertising platform—but it is possible.

Monetize the Videos

When you create a YouTube channel, the platform gives you the option of monetizing it. This involves adding advertising before and/or during your videos. As well as receiving advertising revenue, if your channel reaches over 10 000 views, Google may choose to include your video on its advertising network. The network is made up of YouTube channels that have been selected by Google's algorithm and pays creators each time one of their ads is clicked on by viewers. It doesn't matter whether or not the adverts relate directly to the content of your video; you still get paid for clicks and views. Some countries have stricter rules about advertising than others, so check out where you can advertise online first so that you don't fall foul of them when creating and sharing your content online!
