HomeTechnology In the future, WhatsApp will provide a 'link' for users to join group calls
WhatsApp is always evolving and adding new in-app features to make the chat more secure and safe. The instant messaging service, which is owned by Meta, is now aiming to include a link to join a WhatsApp group call. It would be comparable to how we join a Zoom, Webex, or Google Meet call or group call. Users can currently join in the middle of a call without having to utilise the link. The link will be able to provide a sneak peek, and consumers will be able to set a reminder for it.
You can distribute the call link to contacts and even non-contacts using WhatsApp.
According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp tracker, "you will be able to make a call link right within your contacts list and share it with anyone, even non-contacts." You or anyone else who wants to join the call or group call must have WhatsApp installed.
This functionality is being developed by WhatsApp and will be available soon. It is currently being tested on Android and will be the first to be released there. Later, the same capability could be added to iOS and the desktop.
"This feature differs from the old Messenger Rooms shortcut: anyone could join a Messenger Room, even if they didn't have a Facebook account," he explained. "When you create a WhatsApp call link, the call is hosted on WhatsApp, so it's secured by end-to-end encryption, and it requires a WhatsApp account to join."
Aside from this new feature, WhatsApp is also working on integrating search into the contact information page. Both Android and iOS users will be able to utilise it. Beyond that, it is also introducing new reactions for desktop users. Desktop users will be able to see who has reacted to incoming and outgoing messages in groups and how they have reacted in the future release.
