Hackers vs Crackers
The Media doesn't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to computer Hackers!!!
In todays Information Technology market, there is much to do about security. We hear about Hackers all the time. Although Hackers might be better referred to as Crackers.
Most Americas default to the term Hacker as being that evil guy out to get into your computer and do bad things to you. Hackers are often looked at as being the ultimate threat to the computers or servers we own and are out to take all the information they can from us in order to steal our money, our lives, or worse. Hackers are not this.
Americans should always be using the term Crackers, but this is not how the media has represented the cyber intrusions we hear about so often.
A hacker is often simply just a person who identifies the bugs of a computer system. They focus on the failings of the Operating system such as Microsoft Windows or Linux. Most hackers also are students of looking at the flaws in Antivirus and also flaws in a firewall. Hackers for the most part of the ones that program everything we use. I know that there is an argument that programmers do as much, but programmers often work within the flaws of the things they are developing. They are the ones that create the patches that big companies like Microsoft like to push out to the devices that run their operating system. This is the same for the multitude of patches that have gone out for IOS devices such as your iPhone or your iPad.
Programmers create the software we use, create the fixes we use, but often these might have unseen flaws. Many companies that create software use programmers that can be seen as Hackers to pentest their software. They look to mitigate vulnerabilities on code with the idea that Americans can always love the products they use. Without Hackers we would truly be unsafe in the digital world.
So, what is the read differences between Hackers and Crackers?
Hackers: Are always looking for the bugs in computer systems and internet security. They do this because they are trying to fix these nasty bugs and improve on the security in the digial world that we have all come to depend on.
Crackers: A cracker is always out to mess up the security of computers and networks. A cracker can deploy various techniques that can include skills a Hacker might have, but they also might deploy software, email scams, bogus links to internet sites, and more.
Hackers are builders of things. They also maintain things by making sure they are secure and always looking for potential flaws. Think of a hacker as your maintenance man fixing the things you use every day.
Crackers are actually the opposite. Think of a Cracker as that vandal that spray painted graffiti on your walls. The Hacker is the one that has to eventually resolve this.
Hackers usually have advanced knowledge of computers hardware and computer software, They are the front line of making sure computers and networks are secure.
Crackers, once thought of as not being as skillful as a Hacker, actually may have many of the same advanced levels of knowledge that a Hacker has. Hackers often specialize in the type of hacking they do in order to work for companies that want to maintain security levels on their network. Crackers may not always have such specific specialization even though they may have skill. They may have created generalized software and tools in order to perform illegal actions against Americans or any computer user in the digital world.
Hackers often resolve the bugs of a corrupt network and investigate with the goal of catching a Cracker.
Crackers always know they are committing illegal acts. They do their best to cover up their digital trail on the internet.
What is the overall conclusion of Hackers vs Crackers? Hackers break into security systems for the purpose of evaluating the bugs in it with the goal of resolving those bugs via patch or other means. Crackers simply break into systems for criminal and illegal reasons. Crackers are only out for the personal gains.
